Chester lay down behind him, hugging him close. ‘I love you, okay?’

Jayden nodded. "Okay." He hugged him back.

Chester’s smile faltered, but he didn’t blame Jayden for not saying it back. He hugged him close, switching off the lights. ‘G’night.’

Jayden felt awful for not saying it back. "Night." He mumbled.

Chester closed his eyes, trying to distract himself from everything.

Jayden closed his eyes, falling asleep within a few minutes, sighing quietly.

The next morning, there was a knock on the door. It didn’t wake Chester up, though. ‘Jayden,’ someone hissed.

Jayd stirred, waking up. He looked around for the voice.

The door opened a crack. Maeve looked through the crack. ‘Jayden,’ she hissed.

Jayden looked at the crack in the door and saw her, standing up and walking to her. "You scared me-"

‘Sorry,’ Maeve said quietly. She handed him a newspaper. The headline was [b]King Chester cheating?[/i] with a picture of Beatrice and him kissing. ‘I just assumed he hadn’t told you yet.’

"It's fi-" Jayden saw the newspaper photo and froze. "He definitely didn't mention this." He mumbled, face falling.

Maeve looked down. ‘I’m sorry,’ she said quietly. ‘Just… read it.’

Jayd nodded, reading. He didn't realize how tight his grip on it was. "Can I keep this?" He asked quietly.

Maeve nodded. ‘Of course,’ she looked up at Jayden, giving a weak smile. She disappeared.
