Connor looked over at Evan and grabbed his phone, following him upstairs to his room.
-
Evan quickly but carefully made his way to his room and slammed his door behind him before Connor could get inside, flopping onto his bed and curling into himself.
-
Connor stopped the the door slammed in front of him, exhaling softly. He gently knocked, pocketing his phone. “Can I come in, Evan?” He asked softly, listening for the brunette.
-
“I guess so,” Evan mumbled angrily, wrapping his blanket around himself.
-
Connor came in to the room and gently shut shut the door, exhaling softly. “Are you okay?”
-
“Shut the f--- up, like you care,” Evan spat angrily, not moving from his position. “My dad probably put you up to this s----“
-
“I do care, actually,” Connor spoke gently, slowly moving towards the bed. “I mean, not to be rude or anything, you kind of did this to yourself-“
-
“No s---, sherlock,” Evan said angrily, sitting up. “Why do you f---ing care if it’s all my fault-“
-
“Because-“ Connor paused, furrowing his brows. “Well, I- I’m not really sure why, but I do care,” he spoke quickly, watching Evan. He obviously wasn’t going to tell him he did the exact same thing himself, but he couldn’t think of anything else to say.
-
“f---in’ stupid,” Evan spat, lying down and curling up again to hide the tears starting to roll down his cheeks.
-
Connor exhaled softly, watching Evan as his heart ached. “I know you don’t believe me, or trust me, but I’m not lying- I care about you, and what you’re feeling right now,” he spoke, running a hand through his hair, “and if I’m being honest, I can relate in, more than one way- Don’t ask me how, it’s- it’s hard to explain. But, I’m being completely honest, I care, okay?”
-
Evan’s anger left and was immediately replaced by guilt, making a pit in his stomach. His useless eyes stared blankly at the wall as he listened to Connor. “Okay.” He whispered weakly, cursing himself as his voice broke.
-
“Can uh- do you mind if I sit beside you?” Connor asked gently, moving closer to the bed.
-
“It’s okay,” Evan murmured quietly, wrapping his arms around his torso.
-
Connor nodded and sat down on the bed, watching Evan for a moment before looking away. “Do you wanna talk about why you didn’t take the medicine, or no?” He asked carefully, resting his hands on his lap and picking at the skin around his nails.
