Evan was silent for a moment before shuffling over past the hinges on the doorframe and leaning against the wall there, his dad opening the door for him.

Connor peeked in, seeing Evan on the floor. "Hey," he spoke softly, moving in front of him and sitting on the floor.

Evan stared at his feet, guilt washing over him as he tried not to cry again. “Hi,” he whispered as his dad shut the door and walked away.

"You wanna tell me what's going on, hun?" Connor asked softly, crossing his legs and resting his hands in his lap.

“You- I-“ Evan stopped himself, sighing. “You don’t hate me, right?”

"Me, hate you?" Connor asked, furrowing his brows. "Baby, of course not- I literally confessed my love for you like, less than a week ago. I definitely don't hate you."

Evan let out a shaky breath, tears flooding his eyes. “Yeah, duh, sorry- I’m just- I’m stupid, it’s not your fault-“

"No, hey- stop that, you're not stupid," Connor spoke, uncrossing his legs and moving closer to Evan. "I just want to know what's going on, I- I was scared something was wrong, or- or that I did something wrong-" Like I did to the others...

“No- I am- I really am,” Evan said, a mix of a sob and a chuckle slipping past his lips. “I just- I- I was- I didn’t want you to have to deal with me, and my nightmares and s---,” he mumbled, hiding his face in his knees.

Connor exhaled softly and wrapped his arms around Evan, hugging him close. "Baby, I love you so f---ing much, and just because you're dealing with some serious stuff doesn't mean I don't want to deal with it, too," he spoke, rubbing his back.

“But-“ Evan said, a quiet sob coming out of his mouth. “Why would you? What do you gain?”

"You think I'm trying to gain something from this?" Connor asked, running a hand through Evan's hair. "The only thing- the only thing I want, is for you to be okay. For you to feel safe. I'm here for you, hun- All the way, okay?"

“All the way?” Evan echoed weakly, letting go of his legs and hesitantly moving his arms around Connor.

"All the way, baby~" Connor said with a smile, nodding as he loosened his hold on Evan for a moment before hugging him close. "Seriously, I'm not gonna dump you because of some silly nightmares. I've been in the exact same place you've been, and it's not fun. So, I'm gonna be here for you, promise~"

“You’re sure?” Evan said quietly. “Like- absolutely positive?”
