“Mhm,” Alex hummed in response, nodding. “I mean, that s--- pays well, y’know~” He joked, chuckling softly.

“Does the school? Or are you getting paid for a like, internship?” Nick asked.

“Yeah, kind of,” Alex said with a nod, “it’s like a thing where I get like, an immersive experience, in a way? I get to work on like, practice cases ‘n stuff. It’s really cool, honestly~”

“And that pays well?” Nick asked, tapping the steering wheel.

“Pretty much- That, and my job, but we don’t talk about that~” Alex joked, chuckling softly.

“What’s your job?” Nick asked, keeping his gaze forward on the road.

“Don’t worry about it~” Alex joked with a playful smirk, winking at Nick.

Nick furrowed his brows a little bit, giggling quietly. “Uhh, okay-“

“I’m kidding- I just work at some boring yet fancy office job, pays well,” Alex said, chuckling softly. “Gotta pay the bills somehow, am I right?”

“Mm, fair,” Nick said with a chuckle, nodding. “I’ll keep it on the down low, don’t worry.”

“Pfft- You’re a life saver, thank you~” Alex teased, chuckling softly.

“Of course, of course,” Nick said with a chuckle, pulling into the grocery store parking lot.

Alex chuckled, smiling a little. “How long is Karl stuck on bed rest again? I don’t think I asked him-“

“Like, four weeks,” Nick said, searching for a parking spot.

Alex nodded, brushing some of his hair out of his face. “And you’re gonna take care of him for the next few weeks?”
