Nick nodded, smiling awkwardly at Alex and turning to walk back into the kitchen.

“I guess he still doesn’t like me?” Alex asked in a low voice, chuckling awkwardly. “I mean, you did curse him out,” Karl spoke quietly, nudging Alex’s side. “You really shouldn‘t have done that-“ “I know, I know- I do feel bad about it, especially now that he’s taking care of you ‘n s---,” Alex said, sighing softly. He glanced into the kitchen, watching Nick for a moment before looking away. “I can see why you like him, though. He is pretty cute~” He teased, smirking at a blushing Karl.

Nick finished loading the dishwasher, washing his hands. “Do you guys want anything?”

“Ooh, to eat? You got any chips?” Alex half-joked, chuckling softly. “I’m okay, not really hungry,” Karl spoke, glancing over at Nick. Alex furrowed his brows, looking back at Karl. “I think you should try an eat a little something, okay, Karl?”

“Yeah, there’s another banana if you want it,” Nick said, looking at Karl. “You haven’t had anything since breakfast.”

“I-I’m not hungry, really-“ Karl spoke nervously, scratching at the back of his hand.

Nick raised an eyebrow, staring Karl down for a moment. “How about we run to the store and get you some cherries and ice cream and stuff?”

Karl perked up a little, looking over at Nick with a small smile. “That sounds good~” He said, giggling softly. Alex watched with a small smile, chuckling softly. s---, he’s down bad for this guy- “How about I go with you, Nick, and we let Karl rest his knee?” Alex suggested, standing up. Hopefully he agrees so I can chat with him for a bit and apologize- And see what his intentions are with Karl.

Nick studied Alex for a second before shrugging. “I guess so, if Karl doesn’t mind being home alone.”

“Clay will probably be by here soon anyways, so he’ll be fine,” Alex said, looking over at Karl. “Uh, yeah, that’s fine,” Karl replied with a smile, nodding. “Make sure to get the good vanilla! Not the weird, off-brand kind-“ “I got it, relax, Karlos,” Alex joked, walking over to the front door.

“Okay,” Nick said with a giggle, heading to the front door after Alex.

Alex opened the front and walked out, adjusting the beanie on his head. “Hey, uh- I’m sorry about the block party stuff-“ He said, looking over at Nick once the front door shut. “I didn’t mean to, I just- get protective of him, is all. I didn’t mean what I said-“

Nick paused, grabbing his keys and unlocking his car as they walked over. “It’s whatever, I guess. Dont worry about it.”

Alex nodded, walking over to Nick’s car and getting in.

“So. you’re studying to be a lawyer?” Nick asked as he started the car and backed out of the driveway.
