“No, you’re not,” Nick shook his head. “You’re fine, dude, seriously. Breaking a plate isn’t the end of the world.”

Karl exhaled shakily, covering his face with his hands as he leaned back into the couch.

“Karl, look at me,” Nick said softly. “Just because you’re hurt doesn’t mean you’re a burden. It’s okay to be hurt.”

Karl let out a choked sob, opening his eyes and looking back at Nick. “But, I’m- I’m a f---ing mess…”

“Yeah, and no one’s asking you to be anything else,” Nick said with a soft smile. “It’s okay.”

Karl sniffled a little, watching Nick warily. He reluctantly nodded after a moment, exhaling shakily as he leaned back against the couch and tried to calm down.

“Wanna watch a show?” Nick asked, glancing over at him.

“Sure,” Karl mumbled, exhaling shakily as he took deep breaths.

“Okay,” Nick said softly, sitting close to Karl and grabbing the remote. “Got something in mind to watch?”

Karl shook his head, exhaling softly as he crossed his arms over his chest. He subconsciously leaned against Nick’s side, leaning his head back against the cushions of the couch.

Nick nodded, putting on some random disney channel original and putting the remote down.

Karl exhaled softly, zoning out as he stared at the TV. He hugged his uninjured leg to his chest, resting his head on his knee.

Nick watched Karl for a moment, sighing.

Karl glanced over at Nick, watching him for a moment. “Did you sleep well?” He asked softly, glancing back at the TV.

“Mm, yeah,” Nick said with a shrug. “I might pass out in a little while, though-“
