Jared exhaled shakily, clinging to Liam. “H-He- He touched m-me-“ He let out a shaky sob, burying his face in his chest.

“I know, I’m so sorry,” Liam said softly, holding Jared close. “It’ll never happen again- never, I’m sorry it ever did-“

Jared let out another shaky sob, crying into Liam’s shirt.

Liam started softly singing the worship song he could hear through the door, moving to the side. He leaned against the wall, sliding to the floor with Jared still in his arms.

Jared continued quietly crying as he slumped to the ground, exhaling shakily. He tried to take deep breaths and slow his breathing, squeezing his eyes shut.

“Hey, breathe with me, Jare,” Liam said quietly, taking a deep breath.

Jared inhaled and exhaled shakily, trying to calm down more. He soon became more relaxed in Liam’s arms, burying his face in his chest again.

“You’re safe, I promise,” Liam whispered, holding Jared close. The whole time, Liam had been watching down the hall, making sure Pastor Matthew didn’t come near them again.

Jared calmed down a little more, curled up into a ball. “Don’t- don’t we need t-to get Caleb?” He spoke shakily, looking over at Liam.

“Yeah, yeah, we probably should,” Liam said softly. “Do you wanna go sit in the auditorium- and- and maybe, I’ll go tell Caleb and you can relax a little?”

“Mhm,” Jared hummed in response, nodding. He slowly stood to his feet, exhaling shakily.

“I love you so much-“ Liam paused to hug Jared. Once he let go, he opened the auditorium door and looked around for Caleb. “Ill be back in a second- I see Caleb, I’ll go talk to him, okay?”

Jared nodded, rubbing his teary eyes. “I love you too, Bug,” he murmured softly, exhaling heavily. He crossed his arms over his chest and stayed by the door, trying to block out his anxious thoughts and pay attention to the music.

“Please- uh, stay inside the auditorium and where people can see you, okay?” Liam said softly.

Jared nodded, leaning against the wall.
