Jared exhaled shakily as he sat on Liam’s bed with him, calling his dad. “I don’t even know if he’ll pick up, he’s at work right now,” he mumbled, leaning against his boyfriend’s side. -
“It’s okay if he doesn’t,” Liam said softly just as the ringing stopped. “Hey, bud, what’s up?” A male voice could be heard on the other line, some papers moving around.

“Dad- hi,” Jared spoke, trying to keep his voice from shaking. “I’m- I’m sorry for bothering you at work, I just-“ -

“Hey, are you okay?” He asked with a frowned, turning away from his work. “What’s goin on?” -

“I uhm,” Jared started, his voice beginning to shake. “Well, I- I was home w-with Liam, y’know, just hanging out and- and we-“ He paused, exhaling shakily. “Well, this uhm, isn’t exactly how I-I wanted to tell you this, but uhm, I’m- I’m gay, Dad. And- and Liam and I are dating-“ -
His dad was silent for a second before responding. “Okay, bud. Did something happen, though? You sound really upset.”

“Yeah, I- So, I was home, and Liam- I was teaching h-him some piano stuff, and then-“ Jared paused, choking up a little. “Then Mom came h-home and- and saw me kiss his cheek a-and she yelled at me, slapped m-me and kicked us o-out of the house…”

“She hit you?” He said in surprise. “Where are you now?”

“I-I’m at Liam’s house, he’s- he’s with me now,” Jared spoke in barely a whisper, tears filling his eyes. “I’m scared, Dad-“
