“Hey, bud, don’t worry about it, okay?” He said reassuringly, and you could hear him moving on the other line. “That won’t ever happen again. I’ll go talk to mom. It’s all gonna work itself out somehow.”

Jared nodded, exhaling shakily. “Okay. I’m sorry-“

“What are you sorry about, kiddo?” His dad said. “None of this is your fault.”

“I- I made her mad, I-“ Jared exhaled shakily, hugging his legs to his chest. “She’s disgusted by me, all because I like Liam-“

“Hey, we’re gonna work this out, okay?” He said, and the noises of his car starting could be heard in the backround. “I don’t know why she got so mad at you, this isn’t a bad thing. You liking Liam isn’t bad,” he said thoughtfully, Liam wrapping his arms around Jared.

“But- But does Pastor M-Matthew say it’s bad? That it’s in the Bible that it’s wrong?” Jared murmured, exhaling shakily.

“I don’t know, Jared, honestly,” He said with a sigh, pausing for a moment. “But I do know that you’re probably happier with Liam, right?”

Jared looked over at the blonde boy, a small smile appearing on his face. “Yeah, I- I am,” he spoke softly, leaning into his side.

Liam smiled brightly, squeezing Jared a little. “Then that’s all I need to hear. You my kid, as well as God’s kid. And if He can’t meet you where you are and love you for that, then so be it.”

Jared chuckled quietly, nodding. “Thanks, Dad,” he spoke softly, curling closer to Liam’s side.

“Of course, bud, what else are dads for,” He said softly. “Alright, I’m gonna let you go and I’ll talk to mom, okay? I’ll get it all worked out. If you need anything else, and I mean anything, just call me, okay?”

“Okay,” Jared replied, nodding. “I love you, Dad.”

“I love you too, kiddo,” He said softly. “Stay safe, okay? I’ll talk to you later.” He added before hanging up. “Well, that went well, huh?” Liam said with a soft smile.

Jared said goodbye before the call ended, exhaling shakily. “I need cuddles,” he murmured as he flopped back onto the bed, pulling Liam down with him.

Liam giggled softly, wrapping his arms around Jared and holding him close. “Do you want anything else? Water? Snack?”
