“Get out! Both of you!” Sarah shouted as angry tears rolled down her face. Jared exhaled shakily as he grabbed Liam’s hand, walking to the front door. He walked out of the house, tears filling his eyes.

“C’mere, let’s go to the park,” Liam whispered, squeezing Jared’s hand and continuing to walk towards the sidewalk.

Jared nodded, exhaling shakily as he rubbed his cheek with his free hand. He stared at the ground, tears slowly rolling down his face as they walked.

Once they were a little farther from Jared’s house, Liam stopped and wrapped his boyfriend in a hug. “I am so sorry that happened to you.”

Jared hugged onto Liam, sobbing shakily as he buried his face in his boyfriend’s chest. “I- I didn’t think she’d actually do that…”

“I know, I know, that was awful,” Liam said softly. “You didn’t deserve that at all.”

Jared let out another shaky sob, clinging to his boyfriend.

“Do you want me to call my mom? She can pick us up-“ Liam said softly, rubbing Jared’s back.

“Mhm,” Jared murmured softly, exhaling shakily.

“Okay, uh, gimme a second,” Liam said, pulling his phone out of his pocket and dialing his mom’s number. “Hi- mom, I really need you to pick Jared and I up- yes we’re okay- well, kinda- we’re on the street from his house to the park. Please hurry a little bit- yes, okay, I love you too. Bye.”

Jared let go of Liam a little as he talked to his mom, rubbing his eyes with one hand.

Liam hung up, putting his phone away and wrapping his arms around Jared again. He started humming quietly, swaying back and forth.

Jared exhaled softly, relaxing in Liam’s arms a little. “I’m- I’m sorry you had t-to see that…”

“It’s okay,” Liam whispered, rubbing Jared’s back. “Don’t apologize for something you can’t control.”

Jared let out another shaky breath, leaning closer into Liam’s touch.
