Liam kept humming a quiet tune, only letting go of Jared when his mom pulled up. He opened the side door for his boyfriend, climbing in after him. “Hey, mom-“ “Are you both okay? What happened?” She asked, twisting to look back at them.

“My- My mom found out about me and- and Liam,” Jared murmured, shakily buckling up. “She- she yelled at me a-and slapped me and kicked m-me out of the house…”

“Oh, honey, I’m so sorry,” Liam’s mom said softly, reaching a hand back to squeeze Jared’s sympathetically. “Well, you’re more than welcome to stay with us, okay? I’ll arrange some stuff-“

“Thank you,” Jared said with a short nod, leaning against Liam’s side. “I- I need to call my dad and- and let him know-“

“I can do that for you hun, if you want me to,” Liam’s mom said, turning in her seat to start driving. Liam grabbed Jared’s hand, buckling up in the middle seat to be next to him.

“Yeah, thank you,” Jared spoke softly, nodding. He gently squeezed Liam’s hand, trying not to burst into tears again.

Liam rubbed his thumb over the back of Jared’s hand, watching his carefully. “I’m so sorry about that hun, you didn’t deserve that.” Liam’s mom said, sounding almost the same as Liam.

“Thank you,” Jared spoke quietly, resting his head on Liam’s shoulder,

“Do you boys want to get something to eat on the way home?” Liam’s mom asked, glancing back at them in the mirror. “You should probably eat something, love,” Liam said quietly, watching Jared.

“Sure,” Jared murmured, nodding a little.

“Does Mcdonald’s sound good?” Liam’s mom asked, smiling a little. “Yeah! Jared, you good with that?”

Jared only nodded, curling closer to Liam’s side. He buried his face in his shoulder, exhaling shakily.

Liam sighed, wrapping his arms around Jared and holding him close.

Jared hugged onto Liam, curling closer to him.

They got to Mcdonald’s, getting their food and heading back home. Once the car was parked, Liam unbuckled and waited for Jared to unbuckle before making a move to get out. “We can go watch a movie, or something.”
