This only freaked her out more. Octavia darted back. "I can't be late. I can't be late." Octavia said as she stepped around Adrienne in her panicked state. She tried to push open the door to the school. It didn't work. It was a pull door. Octavia couldn't comprehend that. She kept pushing on the door and started attacking the door. Octavia started crying. If she couldn't get to class her teachers would be upset at her and they'd call her parents and they'd be upset and everyone would be disappointed and then they'd kick her out and she didn't know how to survive homeless and then she'd go to jail and she'd never get a job
-
Adrienne froze, watching Octavia panic. They exhaled and walked over, crouching beside them. “I’m sorry, this- this is my own fault, isn’t it,” they murmured, watching the girl for a moment. “I- I’ll tll the teacher it’s my fault, I- I won’t let you get in trouble for my mistakes, okay?” They exhaled, gently taking one of Octavia’s hands in their own. “I- I’m sorry…”
-
Octavia was hyperventilating. She was only half comprehending what was being said. "They're... still... gonna... be... mad... At.. m-me." Octavia said she spoke between heavy inhales as she'd stated to cry. She couldn't be late to class it would ruin everything and everyone would be mad because she didn't listen to them.
-
Adrienne exhaled softly and let go of Octavia’s hand, wrapping their arms around the girl. “I won’t let them be mad I you, I promise,” they whispered softly, rubbing her arm with their hand. “It wasn’t your fault, so you don’t deserve to be in trouble, okay? I’ll- I’ll figure it out.”
-
The arms around Octavia freaked her out more. She flailed her arms she tried breathing which was interrupted with her own sobs. "I'll be i-in t-t-trouble anyways." Octavia said. Her hands were shaking like tree in a storm. She noticed this which made her more worried. That was a tantrum and she'd be in more trouble and they'd take away her computer.
-
Adrienne quickly let go, unsure of what to do. They looked up at the doors, standing and trying to open them. They exhaled shakily as they pulled, anger and guilt rising through the high of the weed. “Stupid f---ing door, open already!” They exclaimed, kicking it with their foot. They let out another shaky breath, clenching their fists. f---, this is all my fault- I’m such a f---ing idiot…
-
Octavia started to pull on her own hair and think. As she breathed she sunk to the ground. She got pins and needles but started to calm down. She looked up at the door and through blurry eyes read the words pull. Octavia stared in disbelief and pulled at the door. It opened.
-
Adrienne watched as Octavia pulled open the door, exhaling. “f---, I’m a dumb---…” They muttered, crouching to the floor and hugging their legs to their chest. “You- You should head to class, I’ll- I’ll sort things out with your teacher,” they murmured softly.
-
"don't feel bad, i-i shouldn't have had a tantrum. What hour it it right now?" Octavia asked. She needed to know which class to go to. She was starting to get antsy about it but pushed it to the back of her mind.
-
“No clue- And it’s okay, you were panicked. It’s a normal reaction, don’t worry,” Adrienne said with a sigh, sitting up. “Are you okay?”
-
"I'm fine. I'm more worried about the teachers finding out I threw a tantrum. I'm not supposed to throw tantrums." Octavia said. She was tapping on her legs which were still stuck with the feeling of pins and needles.
-
“Technically, you are? I mean, you’re allowed to feel your feelings- y’know that, right?” Adrienne asked, looking over at Octavia. “You have nothing to apologize for, girl~”
-
"I'm allowed to feel my feelings but I'm not supposed to tell when I am upset. I'm also not supposed to hit things, scream, shake, pull hair, or flail around like a wild monkey." Octavia said. She had gotten in trouble for it hundreds of times. Grown ups aren't supposed to have tantrums and high school was grown up.

*yell (not tell, autocorrect moment)
-
“There’s nothing wrong with reacting like that, though,” Adrienne said, standing up. They brushed off the back of their pants, exhaling. “I used to have ‘tantrums’ like that, and I still do. Mostly due to overstimulation, I think. Or anxiety, like anxiety attacks. What I’m tryna say is- it’s totally normal, okay? Don’t beat yourself up over it, okay?”
