Layla scrolled through his texts with Hazel, frowning. ‘It looks like she’s trying to get your attention,’ she said, handing it back to him.

Theo raised his eyebrows. "Isn't that what friends do? Talk to each other and get each others attention?" He rolled his eyes.

Layla glared. ‘No, like, romantically! She’s trying to make you jealous!’

Oh s---. Theo got a slight rush of panic, and he stiffened a bit. What if it was working? What if that was what all the irritation over Hazel and Max was about? What if-
"Layla, relax! She's just asking for advice!" Theo shoved his phone back in his pocket. -
Layla narrowed her eyes, obviously not buying it. ‘Are you sure? Theo, I love you, but you don’t know how a girl thinks! She’s jealous of you and I!’ she sat up and pressed a kiss on Theo’s cheek. ‘Can you not see it?’

Theo pulled away when she kissed him. He hated her kissing him whenever she was upset. "Can you just relax? You get so paranoid whenever anything like this happens!" He didn't want to accuse her of getting possessive whenever any girl ever talked to him... But it wasn't too far from the truth.

Layla glared when he pulled away. ‘And rightfully so!’ she argued, sitting up. ‘Theo, you can’t expect me not to be worried when you still have your ex as a close friend! I’m not paranoid, you just don’t realise when you’re being played!’

"If I don't realize when I'm getting played, doesn't that mean, I'm not going to get with her?" Theo argued.

‘It means you won’t realise until she’s kissing you!’ Layla exclaimed. ‘God, you’re so dense!’

"She's not going to kiss me!" Theo argued. "She's figuring out if she likes Max! She's over me!"

‘And how do you know that?! Do you not see the way she looks at you when we’re close?!’ Layla argued.

"You've only met her once! Twice if you count when she left the airport, but still!"

Layla glared. ‘I don’t think you’re over her,’ she snapped.

Theo sighed, thinking of a way he could get out of the situation with as little pissing her off as possible. "What makes you think that?"

‘You were upset when she told you Max likes her, I saw the way you looked at her when they were cuddling, and you still think of her as a friend. Exes don’t do that!’
