Quinn rolled his eyes. ‘I guess. But I don’t care what the press thinks. So long as they don’t interfere with my droids,’ he said, finishing off his breakfast. ‘But y’know, people are strange. Maybe the world will collapse if a guy makes out with a droid.’
-
"Wow." Elliot stared at Quinn in slight disbelief, frowning. "You really think that?" He scoffed, turning away. "Of course, shouldn't have expected anything different from 'the star of Northland'. Oh, and, no droid is 'yours'. Just because you legally own them, doesn't mean they belong to you."
-
Quinn leaned back, looking at him in amusement. ‘I created them. It’s the same way you’d say ‘my kids’ or ‘my dog’,’ he said, ‘But I didn’t expect you to be a droid activist, Elliot Valkrum. And I was being sarcastic about that last part. I’m pretty sure Earth won’t implode any time soon.’
-
"How the hell could you have 'made' a droid? Only the big tech companies can make droids-" Elliot paused, sighing. "Right, your dad owns Apus. Plus, he pretty much bails you out of everything, right?"
-
Quinn rolled his eyes, crossing his ankles. 'Remember who's house this is,' he snapped. 'I could kick you out right now and leave you to The Huntress.'
-
Elliot chuckled, nodding and holding up his hands. "Sorry, sorry." He took another bite of his food, quickly finishing it. "That hit the spot, thanks," he added with a small smile, glancing over at Quinn.
-
Quinn sighed, looking at the TV. 'All good.'
-
Elliot leaned back against the couch, humming softly for a moment. He looked down at his pant leg, seeing a faded splotch of blood on it. "s---, I think I need to change out the wrap," he muttered, gently rolling up the pant leg.
-
Quinn pulled out a roll of bandages and chucked it at him. 'There you go.'
-
"Thanks," Elliot replied with a nod, unwrapping his leg. He winced as the cool air touched the wound, folding up the wrap and setting it on the coffee table in front of him. He propped up his foot on the table, wrapping up his leg. "Alright, that should hold," he murmured, leaning back in his seat. All of a sudden, there was a knock at Quinn's door and he froze, turning his head towards the door. "Were you expecting anyone?"
-
Quinn shook his head. He stood up and walked towards the door. 'Stay here,' he said, rolling down his sleeve where his arm was supposed to be. 'And be quiet.'
He walked towards the door and opened it. -
Elliot nodded, moving to make sure he was out of sight from whoever was at the door. When the door opened, a young lady wearing blue appeared. "Quinn Everest, I'm here to ask you a few questions regarding an escaped fugitive under the authority of the NPD," she spoke clearly, pulling out her police badge with her robotic arm. "His last known location was close by the apartment building, so I'm asking around to see if he has been spotted."
-
Quinn shook his head. 'No, I haven't seem him around. Best of luck, though,' he said, beginning to shut the door on her.
-
The lady laughed and blocked the door with her hand, pushing it back open. "We got information that he came into the apartment building with someone. The security cameras didn't clearly show who, but it had to have been someone in this building," she spoke calmly, looking up at Quinn. "Now, I wouldn't normally suspect you of harboring a fugitive, but with what's been going around the news about you as of late? I must say I have my suspicions."
-
Quinn narrowed his eyes. 'I can assure you, miss, I am not harboring a fugitive. I know better than to break the law like that.'
How stupid he was not to consider the security cameras! 'What happened was purely an accident.'
