Elliot stirred awake, yawning tiredly as he stretched his arms. He sat up and groaned in pain, his leg aching. Where- Where am I? He thought, looking around tiredly for a moment before realizing where he was. Right, I'm in that guy's apartment... what was his name, Quinn? He sat up and looked over to see the news playing, seeing two reporters talking about him again. His eyes widened and he quickly began to search for the remote, panicking. f---, he didn't turn it on, did he?! I hope he didn't see it-
-
Quinn was leaning against the doorframe, a cup of coffee in his hand. He looked over at Elliot, frowning. ‘So that’s who you are, huh?’
-
Elliot froze and looked over, seeing Quinn standing in the doorway. "I-" He moved back, the duvet falling off and onto the floor. "Look, I- I can explain, please-"
-
Quinn looked down at his coffee, then narrowed his eyes at Elliot. ‘I didn’t realise I was housing a murderer. Explain as best you can, but I’ve already dialled the authorities. I’ll call them if you try anything.’
-
"Please, it's not what it looks like, I- I swear!" Elliot exclaimed, jumping up. He groaned when he put weight on his injured leg, whimpering in pain as he fell back onto the couch. He exhaled shakily as he tried to compose himself, making eye contact with Quinn. "Yes, I am on the run, and yes, I'm 'technically' a fugitive, but I'm innocent, I swear-" He crossed his arms over his chest, gripping the sides of his shirt. "All those things, about me being a murderer- I've been set up."
-
Quinn glared, watching him closely. ‘Why should I believe you? If I’m caught helping you I could become a fugitive too,’ he snapped, gripping his coffee tighter. He was scared of the fact there was an alleged murder in his apartment, of course, but a part of him felt betrayed.
-
Elliot paused, his fearful expression fading into a smug one. "Says you, Mr. Droid Kisser," he retorts with a smirk, tilting his head at Quinn. "Yeah, I know all about you. The whole damn city does, no matter how hard your father tries to cover for you."
-
Quinn scowled. ‘Get out of my apartment,’ he fumed, pointing towards the door. ‘Or give me a good reason why I shouldn’t call the authorities on you. Because I’d happily do so.’
-
"Please, I'm not lying about this," Elliot said in a calm voice, slowly getting himself back on his feet. He raised his hands into the air, in hopes to prove his innocence. "I'm being framed, I swear."
-
Quinn gripped the handle of his coffee cup tightly. ‘And why should I believe you? I’m not that gullible,’ he said, trying to keep calm, but the scowl on his face betraying him.
-
"I-" Elliot exhaled, clenching his gloved hands into fists. "I am running away from someone, the someone who framed me." He took a shaky breath, looking away from Quinn. "Do you know who 'The Huntress' is..?"
-
Quinn’s eyes widened slightly. His older brother had worked for that woman at some point. He quickly composed himself and leaned back against the doorway. ‘I do.’
-
"I-" Elliot's voice hitched as he spoke, bringing a hand to clench his shirt collar. "I used to work for her, but- but I ran away." He gripped tightly, his arm shaking as anger rose in his voice. "She may have saved my life in the Aftershock, but she ruined it in return..."
-
Quinn narrowed his eyes. ‘So she framed you for murder when you left and came after you?’
-
Elliot nodded, bringing his other hand to his head and running it through his hair. "She- She wants me back, she's so desperate-" His breathing hitches and he falls to his knees, trying to calm his panicking. "I don't wanna go back- No, I can't-"
