"Hm, that's a good idea," Karl said with a nod, glancing over at Nick. "I'd thought of that, but never actually did it," he admitted awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.
-
“Well, let’s do it,” Nick said with a laugh, glancing at one of the dogs who was barking.
-
Karl watched Nick with a lovesick smile, giggling softly. "Hey uh, would you wanna- I mean, if you're not busy or anything, would you want to maybe- maybe hang out?" Karl asked, his face turning red as he crossed his arms over his chest.
-
“Uhh, sure, yeah,” Nick said with a chuckle, smiling. “Like- like today? Cause I’m busy today, but I’m good the rest of the class.”
-
"I mean, any day is fine with me!" Karl replied quickly, smiling. "It'd definitely be a bit short notice if I said today, so- so whatever day you're free is fine by me!"
-
“So you’re,” Nick paused, chuckling as he studied Karl for a moment. “You’re just, completely free this week?”
-
"Well, other than work, yeah," Karl said with a nod. "I uhm, I'm not in college so I've pretty much got my days free." He chuckled awkwardly, folding his hands in front of him. "I've never been a really studious person, so when high school ended and I graduated, I never saw a reason to go to college or anything."
-
“Huh,” Nick said with a chuckle. “That makes sense. “How about tommorow? Like… say, noon? We could go out for lunch or like.. oo, we could go for a hike? There are really great trails around my house.”
-
"That sounds great," Karl said with a smile, nodding. "Uh, here, let me give you my number so we can like, decide where to meet up."
-
“Alright,” Nick said with a chuckle, grabbing his phone from his back pocket and unlocking it to go create a new contact and the. hand his phone to Karl.
-
Karl took the phone and put in his number, handing it back to Nick after a moment. He opened his mouth then paused, closing it and chuckling. "I almost said 'See you tomorrow' but it's- it's not closing time yet."
-
Nick chuckled, saving the number and pocketing his phone again. “Yeah, that’d be awkward.”
-
"Definitely," Karl said with a chuckle, nodding. He walked over to the front desk, grabbing his phone. "Hmm, I think it's about time to feed the animals, even though the pups are probably full on treats." He sighed, shaking his head. "I love Elodie, but she- my goodness, she doesn't know when to stop with the treats."
-
Nick chuckled. “They’re so cute though, how could you say no to their sweet faces?”
-
"True," Karl replied, giggling and nodding. "I would say maybe don't feed them too much food, though," he said as he walked into the animal room, opening up the storage closet with the food in it.
