Nick chuckled. “That’s crazy. Thats kinda lucky that you had someone you knew where you started working, you know?”
-
"Yeah, I'm sure as hell lucky to have Karl in my life," Elodie said with a smile, glancing over at Nick. "He got me out of a lot of s---, and helped me get out of my comfort zone."
-
Nick smiled back at her, glancing down at the dogs for a second. “That’s awesome. He seems like a great guy, from what I’ve heard of him, you know.
-
"He sure is," Elodie replied with a smile, looking over at Nick, "and he's single, if you were wondering," she smirked, nudging the ravenette's arm.
-
Nick scoffed, glancing away as he flushed red. “Bold of you to assume I’m also single,” He said with a chuckle looking back at her.
-
"Just puttin' it out there," she laughed, shrugging. "You never know, maybe this is the start of some Wattpad romance~" She giggled, standing up and brushing off her shorts. She grabbed the treats and closed it up, picking up the bag. "Alright, that's enough for you guys," she said to the pups.
-
“Ewww,” Nick said with a chuckle. “You read that kinda stuff?? Ao3 is where it’s at.”
-
"Eh, to each their own," Elodie said, giggling. Karl came back outside, opening the door and slipping out quickly before any of the pups got out. "Oh good, you're back," Elodie said, dropping the bag of treats in Karl's arms. He grunted from the weight as he grabbed them, glaring playfully at Elodie. "Thanks for the warning," he joked, rolling his eyes at his friend. Elodie chuckled as she began to corral the pups inside, gesturing for Nick to help.
-
Nick giggled as he helped Elodie herd the puppies inside.

Karl hummed as he closed up the last crate, standing up. "Honestly, there's not too much going on around here, lately," he said, looking over to Nick. "Like I've said, things have been pretty slow lately." -
“Yeah, I believe it,” Nick said with a chuckle, sneaking one of the treats he kept in his pocket into one of the dog’s crates.
-
"I just hope business picks up soon," he muttered, crossing his arms. "I mean, we're gonna be at full capacity soon, and soon we won't be able to take in new animals."
-
Nick frowned. “Hey, I’m sure it’ll be okay. Do you guys have a lot of advertising out?”
-
"Yeah, we've got social media platforms for the place," Karl replied, nodding with a small frown, "and it's not like we never get people coming in, asking about adoption stuff or coming to get their pet checked up on. Things have just been slow."
-
Nick nodded. “I mean, could we try to get more physical advertising? Like there’s a lot of old people who are lonely but they might know cause they don’t have social media. Maybe we could visit some nursing homes?”
