"Bye," Karl said with a smile, waving as Nick got in and drove off. Maybe this one's it? He thought as he watched the car walk off. I hope so...

Nick pulled up to the shelter again, this time to help volunteer, or at least be trained. He parked his car, heading inside and seeing who was working at the moment. -

"So, I'm essentially helping you get laid?" Karl asked his co-worker, looking down at the messages between them and somebody else. "No, of course not!" The girl replied, glaring at Karl. "Just, helping me get a date with this girl," she added, her face turning red. "So, getting laid-" "KARL JACOBS, shut your mouth this instant," the girl said again, covering the brunette's mouth. Karl giggled under her hand, pulling it away. "I'm teasing, relax~" -

Nick heard the loud conversation, walking toward it and clasping his hands in front of him. “Hello?” -

Karl and the girl turned quickly, realizing who had come in. "Nick, hey!" The brunette said with a smile, hopping up from his chair. "Ready for the rundown of this place?" -

“I guess so, yeah,” Nick said with a smile, nodding. -

"Alright, let me just grab my papers," Karl said, grabbing a clipboard with some papers on it. The girl beside Karl smiled, waving at Nick. "Hi, I'm Elodie," she said, watching the ravenette for a moment. -

“Hey, I’m Nick,” He replied, smiling politely and waving back. -

"Nice to meet you," Elodie said with a small smile, crossing her legs in her seat. "Alright, let's get started," Karl spoke after a moment, walking past Elodie to Nick. She grabbed his sleeve for a moment, stopping him. "So, this the cute guy you told me about?" She asked, smirking. He flushed bright red, tugging his arm away. "I have no idea what you're talking about," he replied quickly, chuckling awkwardly as he walked over to Nick. "Right this way." -

Nick furrowed his brows slightly as they whispered, awkwardly waiting for Karl before following behind him. He adjusted the brim of his hat that he barely remembered to wear this morning, glancing around the room and taking note of little things as they walked. -
(also i have a silly goofy idea for one universe-
maybe one could be like a professor and the other is a student and karl gets there and is like YOOOOO THIS s--- IS WEIRD IM OUT and just dips asap just for like s---s and giggles 😭) -
"So-" Karl said, awkwardly chuckling. "Here we have the 'animal room', with all the pets. Down there we have the door out to the back yard area, where we let the pups go out to get their energy out." He gestured to the door beside the one they entered. "This is one of the storage closets, with food and water bowls, leashes, collars, crates and other toys for the pets," he said as he opened up the door, showing off the contents inside.
