“No, Karl, I- I don’t want to-“ Tears welled up in his eyes and he pulled his arms away from Karl’s touch, acting like he was just putting the food in a dogs enclosure, turning away to try and hide how upset he was. -

“No! Karl, I’m not, I’m not okay,” Nick said, his hands shaking. “But I don’t want to hurt you again, I’m not going to let that happen. So please, leave me alone, I’m done.”

“No, Karl, I’m sorry, I’m done,” Nick whispered staring sadly at Karl, a few tears streaming down his face.

imsoclueless Senior"Wh- What do you mean?" Karl asked warily, grabbing one of Nick's hands in his, bringing a hand up to the ravenette's face to wipe away his tears. "I-If this is about anxieties with- with relationships because of- of your old one, I- I want to help! I want to be here for you, hun!"

Nick swat Karl’s hands away gently, taking a deep breath. “No, Karl, please stop making this so difficult. You can’t help, you can’t- and you’ll be so much happier without me- it- it’ll be okay!”

I know you're hurt and scared, and I-I want to help you! I love you so much-" He exhaled shakily, rubbing his eyes. "Please, don't- don't do this to me..."

“Karl, I don’t know if I can love you back,” Nick said, his voice shaky. “And you deserve better- better than that, y’know?”

Nick broke down at that, tears streaming down his face, the ravenette didn’t care to wipe them away. “No! Karl, stop it. Stop it- Stop f---ing making this difficult!” He leaned against the wall, struggling to breathe but he barely noticed. He was too upset with Karl- with himself for being so stupid to ask him out in the first place.

So, if- if being with me is- is too much, then-" He took a shaky breath in, letting it out after a moment. "Then we don't have to see each other," he said with a sad smile, tears rolling down his cheeks. "I- I wouldn't want our relationship to- to be causing you so much hurt, so- we can end it."

Every time Karl said ‘I love you’ all he could see was his ex-girlfriend, forcing him to say it back, using it as an angry term and making it loose it’s true meaning. “Karl, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” He whispered, sliding down the wall, his hands shaking violently.

imsoclueless Senior"It's not your fault, Nick," Karl said through his tears, grabbing Nick's hands and holding them to his chest. "If taking a break, or ending it permanently, will make it hurt less, I- I understand. It hurts me a lot to lose you, but it would hurt me even more to push you to stay with me and be suffering."

“But it hurts you!” Nick exclaimed quietly, squeezing Karl’s hands gently. “I’m so sorry I have so many issues, Karl, you don’t deserve that.”
