Chester buried his face in Jayden’s shirt, sighing. ‘It’s fine, love,’ he said quietly, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s neck. ‘I-I’ll be fine. Promise.’

Jayd held him tightly. "I know you will be, but I'm still concerned."

Chester tucked his watch into his pocket. He didn’t know what to say to make it better, so he kept silent. He sighed softly, hiding his face in Jayden’s shirt.

Jayden sighed. "I'm sorry that you have to go through all this just to get rid of the phoenix for me and Maeve."

Chester let his wings curl around Jayden. ‘It’s not your fault. I’d do everything to protect you two,’ he said quietly, voice muffled by his boyfriend’s shirt.

Jayden smiled softly, hugging him tighter. What'd he do to deserve someone like this, someone willing to sacrifice their own physical and mental health just to make him and Maeve feel safer. "Thank you for that."

Chester smiled softly back, kissing his cheek. ‘You’re very welcome,’ he said softly. ‘Do you mind if I go thank Astrid for the pocket watch back?’

Jayd shook his head. "Of course not, go ahead." He released his grip on him.

Chester kissed his nose, then stood up and walk towards the door. ‘I’ll be right back,’ he said quietly, then walked out and down the hall. He knocked on Astrid’s door.

"Who is it?" Astrid called from the room. He was at his desk, going through a map of the kingdom.

‘Chester,’ he said quietly. ‘Can I come inside, please?’

"Make it quick." Astrid answered after a brief pause.

Chester opened the door and stepped inside. ‘Hi,’ he said quietly.

"What do you need?"
