"Some of them worked, but they had some really damaging side affects and... It's probably safer to keep your mental state from growing any worse."
-
Chester looked down at his feet, sighing. ‘Oliver, I nearly attacked my own boyfriend and sister. I’m willing to take that risk to make sure they’re safe from my shifts,’ he said quietly. ‘Please.’
-
Oliver seemed torn by that. "Chester, you know I want that as much as the next person too, but you have to consider these side affects please. I mean, you're putting your own health at risk, you should at least know what you're signing up for."
-
Chester sighed, running his fingers through his hair and pulling out a feather. ‘Then tell me,’ he said, looking up at Oliver.
-
Oliver looked up, eyes squinting slightly as he said them out loud, like he was reading his mental map on the ceiling. "Lets see... There's severe loss of appetite, sleep paralysis, some almost schizophrenic-like nightmares and hallucinations depending on the person, increased panic attacks..."
At that Maeve shot Chester a concerned look. -
Chester took a shaky breath, morphing into a half-cat. He stuffed his hands into his pockets. ‘Was that the effect on all patients?’ he asked quietly.
-
Oliver thought for a bit before nodding. "Yes, the extremities of the side effects depends on the person, though, but all of those except for the hallucinations happened in every patient."
"What about the hallucinations then? What's special about that?" Maeve asked.
"No idea, but only 5% of the people tested stated that it happened to them." -
Chester took a shaky breath. He could handle that, he thought, if it meant Jayden and Maeve were safer… He looked at Maeve. ‘Maeve, you’re second in line to the throne,’ he said softly, putting a hand on her shoulder. ‘If anything happens to me, and I can’t rule anymore, I want you to lead.’
-
Maeve's eyes widened. "O-ok." She said quietly.
Oliver's eyes widened. "Hang on, you need time to properly consider this. I'll stop by tomorrow and then we'll make a decision, sound good?" -
Chester sighed. ‘Alright, alright,’ he said, gently squeezing Maeve’s shoulder before letting go. ‘I’m going to go check on Jayden.’ He walked towards the door.
-
Oliver looked over at Maeve, who teleported him back to their castle before she showed up again.
Jayden was still reading the diary, in a better mood than before. -
Chester walked into the room and sat down next to him, looking over his shoulder. ‘Hey, babe,’ he said softly, smiling weakly.
-
Jayd put the diary away, noticing his fake smile. "Hey. What's up?"
-
‘Nothing much,’ Chester said, burying his far into Jayden’s shoulder. ‘Oliver found a solution to thw shifting problem.’
-
"He did? That's good! What's the solution?"
