Jayd gave a small weak smile. "Just you being an cheesy dork. And a couple well deserved insults towards Beatrice."
-
Chester laughed softly. ‘Fair enough. Do you still have the other one I gave you?’
-
Jayden nodded. "Yeah. I haven't read much of it though."
-
‘Fair enough,’ Chester said. They got to the dining hall, and Maeve and Oliver sat at a table today. Chester lead Jayden over to them. ‘I thought you were going to the castle.’
‘Maeve and I figured I’d stay, since you can’t go a day without my help. There are more medical books in Jayden’s library, anyway,’ Oliver shrugged. -
Jayden sat down. "Really?" He asked, mildly surprised. "Huh..."
-
‘Yeah. Granted, they’re more about humans than shapeshifters, but still,’ Oliver said, then turned to Chester. ‘Did you tell him?’
Chester nodded. ‘Yeah. I still want to go through with it, and today rather than tomorrow.’
‘Absolutely not!’
‘Why?’ -
"I'm not rushing through a procedure like this, Chester! Besides, you've only thought about this for what, an hour? That's hardly enough time to prepare yourself for what you're signing up for! I understand wanting to get rid of this problem as fast as possible, but I'm not doing it today!"
-
Chester sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. ‘I’m as ready as I’ll ever be, Oliver. Don’t make me wait until tomorrow, please. I don’t want to overthink this,’ he muttered. ‘What does it even entail? What will the actual procedure be?’
-
Oliver sighed. "I just need time, to prepare the procedure, and to make sure I don't mess it up or skip steps, Chester."
-
‘I get that, but what will you actually have to do?’ Chester asked, trying not to look too anxious.
-
"A surgery, Chester." Oliver answered. "And possibly medications."
Jayden noticed Chester's anxious reaction, grabbing his hand. -
Chester nodded, squeezing Jayden’s hand. ‘Right,’ he said quietly, letting out a shaky breath. ‘That doesn’t seem so bad, I guess… When’s the soonest we can get this done? And if you say tomorrow, I swear to god..’
-
Oliver sighed. "Probably sometime tonight, but we won't be able to see if it works and monitor the side effects until early tomorrow morning, so... Tomorrow, technically."
-
‘Well, at least we can do the actual surgery tonight,’ Chester said quietly as their food was given to them. He thanked the chef, then when the latter left he continued. ‘That’s fine, we won’t get the results tomorrow… makes sense actually…’
-
Jayden leaned his head against Chester's shoulder, taking his plate and silverware.
