"No, I'm good." Jayd looked up at Chester. "I'll stay here, if that's ok with you?"

‘Of course,’ Chester said with a weak smile. ‘My diary’s under my bed, if that helps. I’ll be right back.’ He walked towards the door and gently shut it on his way out.

Jayden nodded, grabbing the diary after a minute or too of growing curiousity.

Chester knocked on Maeve’s bedroom door.

"Come in." Maeve answered.

Chester opened the door and stepped inside. ‘Hey,’ he said quietly.
The page Jayden had opened up to was from a few days ago. -
Maeve looked up at him. "Good, you're not still a phoenix." She said bluntly.
Most of it was just ramblings over Jayden and how amazing he was, which made Jayden feel both very admired and flattered, and also very amused. -
Chester rubbed his arm, looking down at his shoes. ‘Can we talk about yesterday?’

She just shrugged. "Depends. Are you going to snap at me for hardly any reason again, or are we actually going to talk?"

‘The latter,’ Chester said, glancing back up at her. ‘If I do snap at you you have full permission to punch me, ‘kay?’
The diary entry ended there, moving on the next day, the day Beatrice had come. -
Maeve gave a small smile. "Deal."
Jayden read more, chuckling at some of the bits, when Chester wrote some nasty insults about Beatrice. -
Chester smiled weakly. ‘I-I’m really sorry about it, Maeve,’ he said quietly, grabbing her hand. ‘I had no right to yell at you like that.’

Maeve's smile quickly disappeared, looking at the ground. "Mhm."

Chester frowned, putting a hand on her shoulder. ‘Maeve? What’s wrong?’ he said quietly.

"Do you even realize how scary you can be?" Maeve asked quietly, not meeting his eyes.
