Jayden turned to the library. Beatrice watched as he left.

She paused before following. ‘So, you and Chester,’ she said.

"....Yeah?..." Jayd asked, turning around.

‘Are official?’

"Yes." Jayden nodded.

‘Did you know he was cheating on me?’ Beatrice asked, in a tone so sad and believable that Chester would’ve believed it if he didn’t hate her so much.

Jayd backed up a bit. "Was he?" He asked, knowing- at least based off the diary- Chester didn't.

‘Yes,’ Beatrice said, sniffing. ‘I was only gone a few months, to tend to my sick father.’ Her father was not sick. He was a young nobleman.

"Oh, I see. That's... That's a shame." Jayden backed away a bit more, not wanting the conversation to continue.

‘Yes, it is,’ Beatrice agreed, following.

"Funny, from what I've heard, you were the one cheating on him." Jayd shot back, and almost immediately regretted it.

Beatrice pouted. ‘That’s the lie he told you?’ she said, sighing overdramatically.

Jayden nodded backing up more.

‘It’s a terrible lie. You know that, right? You believe me, don’t you?’ Beatrice said.

"I-uh- sure." Jayd said, not believably. He wanted to smack himself over how bad of a liar he decided to be at that moment.
