‘If you don’t want to that’s fine,’ Chester said quickly. ‘I’m just asking.’ -
"No, it's fine." Jayd shrugged. "They're just a bunch of people that host these dumb meetings so they can tell me what I can and can't make laws about. It's fairly reasonable most of the times, but some days-" He just shook his head.

‘Some days?’ Chester asked, frowning slightly.

"Some days they act overly strict and tell me to make stupid laws 'for the better of the kingdom.'" Jayd made air quotations for the last bit.

‘What kind of laws?’ Chester asked, jaw clenched. ‘Unless you don’t want to tell me, which is fine.’

Jayden didn't answer. "I-I'd rather not tell you." He admit.

Chester smiled softly. ‘That’s fine, love,’ he said, kissing his forehead. ‘Let me know when you’re ready to, alright?’

"Alright beautiful." Jayd gave a small smile.

‘But is it anything bad?’ Chester asked. ‘I don’t want to worry.’

"Nothing too bad, sweetheart, I promise."

‘If you’re sure,’ Chester said, smiling softly. He kissed Jayden’s cheek. ‘Would you like to change the subject now, darling?’

"Sure." Jayd was trying to think of what to say. "Uhhh..."

Chester chuckled.

"So.... I know your favorite thing to shapeshift into is a phoenix. What's your least favorite thing to shapeshift into?"
