"Lavender." Maeve mumbled, hoping Chester didn't hear. "And the press, a-and Henry being an ass, and all my teachers are boring, and..." She couldn't find a good end to her sentence.

‘Lavender,’ Chester muttered, burying his face in his hands. ‘How many classes have you skipped?’

"I don't know." Maeve sighed in frustration, burying her head in her hands as well.

Chester didn’t speak for a few moments. He didn’t know what to do. He’d obviously been young too, but he’d never failed classes. ‘Maeve, I know any attempts to ground you would be futile, but c’mon, can you at least try? I’m not asking you to be a scholar, but you’re a princess, and I know you don’t care about your grades, but I wouldn’t make you learn anything that wasn’t necessary.’

"I tried last year, and I still couldn't get decent grades! I was barely passing!"

‘But you were still passing, and trying for that matter! I’ve never cared that much about your grades because you’ve always passed and worked hard, but what’s changed?!’

No matter what, I'll wind up disappointing one of us. "Just- just stop yelling about it!"

"What future?! I can't get a normal job even if I wanted to! This stupid castle is my future!"

‘Maeve, you’re second in line to the throne! You may not want this responsibility, and I’m sorry for that, but you have it! Start acting like it!’
