Chester nestled closer. Maeve finished her dinner and got up to leave.
‘Maeve, can we talk outside about this?’ -
(only online for a few posts but then I'll be back in like 3 hours)
"Sure." Maeve frowned, but nodded. -
(Oki cool)
Chester stood and pecked Jayden’s cheek, then walked to the door after checking his sister was following. -
Maeve was, looking down as if the floor was incredibly interesting.

Chester opened the door for her.

"Thanks." Maeve mumbled, walking out.

Chester shut the door behind them and leaned against the wall. ‘Are you going to show me your report card?’

Maeve nodded, pulling it out of her pocket since she'd just gotten it a bit before dinner. She picked at the sleeve of her shirt.

Chester took it and unfolded it.

The only class she wasn't failing was English. Maeve looked up to try and read his reaction.

Chester exhaled slowly and handed it back. ‘How did this even happen? Last year you were getting by with 60s and 70s, but now you’re barely scoring a 20!’
(I did very little research and they used the 100 point/percentage system in 1800s America so we’re going with that lmao) -

"I-I don't know!" Maeve argued, crumpling up the paper as she shoved it back in her pocket. She didn't mention how many classes she'd skipped. -
‘You’ve been doing your homework, right? Studying at least a few times a week? Do you even listen in class?!’

"I've tried! I-I've just been busy!"

‘With what, exactly?! You don’t have a job, a-and you have a curfew-‘
