Chester, who had been the straight A gifted kid, was loading. ‘… Right. Maeve, why didn’t you tell me?’

Of course he was. Maeve shrugged. "The time never seemed right." She mumbled flimsily. Jayden frowned.

What did you expect- ‘Okay. Um, how about we talk about this after dinner, okay?’

Fair enough. "Okay." Maeve didn't sound at all excited for that.

Chester looked at Jayden awkwardly
Their food came. -
Jayden gave a small smile. He turned to Maeve. "Did you do anything fun today?" He asked, hoping to distract her.

Chester started eating.
‘Just hung out with Lavender,’ Maeve mumbled.
‘That blonde baker girl?’ their aunt said, frowning. -
Jayden ignored Maeve's aunt. "That's good." He said with a smile.

Maeve gave a small smile. ‘Yeah. We went to the beach.’

"That's amazing." Jayden turned to Chester. "We should go to the beach again. We haven't been in ages."

‘We should. We could have a family beach day or something.’

"That'd be amazing!" Jayden nodded excitedly.

Chester smiled. ‘We could drag Oliver and his new boyfriend along, too. He’s going to bring him around to the castle soon.’

"Sounds good to me." Jayden turned to Maeve. "Does that sound fun to you?"

Maeve gave a small smile. ‘Yeah, sounds fun.’
