‘Most of my days just consist of cuddling Jayden when I’m not working, so I have all the time in the world.’ Chester stood up, looking down at her. ‘You okay?’

"I'm great." Maeve mumbled.

‘Someone who’s feeling great wouldn’t be looking that upset. I’m sorry for yelling, okay?’

"It's fine, really." Maeve looked up.

‘Are you sure?’

Maeve nodded.

‘Alright. If you need me, I’ll be in my room.’

Maeve nodded again. "Sounds good."

Chester walked back into the dining room.

Jayden was sitting down. He'd finished his food a long time ago but didn't want to bother the two of them by leaving. He perked up when he saw Chester.

Chester gave a small smile, coming up behind him, and playing with his hair. ‘Hey.’

"Hey." Jayden looked up. "Did it go well?"

‘I guess. She’s just been skipping classes a lot. I’m getting her teachers to notify me when she skips, but when her grades go up she can start skipping again.’

"Sounds fair." Jayden smiled.

Chester gave a small smile. ‘Thanks. C’mon, I’m tired.’
