Chester frowned. His thumb ran over Jayden’s cheek, and he figured something wasn’t right. ‘Honey? Why are you looking at me like that, what’s wrong?’

Jayden didn't answer. He couldn't, even if he wanted to.

Chester’s face paled, realisation hitting him. ‘Stand up,’ he said to make sure, trying to control his panic.

Jayd stood up.

Chester stood up too, grabbing his hands. ‘Snap out of it!’ he said, shaking him gently. ‘Please!’

By now Maeve and Oliver had realized what was happening, but didn't know what to do.
Jayden returned to his senses, looking at Chester in shock and slight horror. He pulled away from him quickly. -
Chester’s shoulders slumped in relief. He rubbed his face in his hands and reached out to grab Jayden’s again. ‘Oh thank the lord, are you okay?’

Jayd hesitated before taking Chester's hands, holding them tight. He didn't answer, sitting down.

That worried Chester even more. His eyes flashed back to their normal colour as he sat down with Jayden. ‘Please talk to me, sweetheart. Are you okay?’

Jayd buried his head in Chester's shirt, sighing. "Would you believe me if I said I was?" He asked weakly.

Chester held him close. ‘Not at all. Just tell me the truth, please,’ he begged, holding his boyfriend tightly.

What, are you going to force me to? Jayden didn't say anything. It wasn't the fact that Chester's eyes went red, he couldn't control it. It was the fact that Jayden couldn't do anything if it worked. He just had to trust that his boyfriend wouldn't hurt him, which he obviously did, but it didn't make it any less scary.

‘Jayden,’ Chester said desperately. ‘Darling, please. Talk to me, I’m begging.’ He pulled back slightly to look Jayden in the eyes. ‘Please, sweetheart, are you okay?’

"I'm fine." Jayden lied after a minute. "Just shaken up."

‘Honey, I don’t believe you. I know what you look like when you’re fine, and this isn’t it. Tell me the truth, please,’ Chester said softly.
