"hello again mortal."jack said looking down at Mildred. He scoffed. "Running off is just what your kind does. Isn't that right smokey?" Jack jumped off of his horse as it whinnied. He looked down at Mildred once again. This time angrier. "I should hand you over to nosfera for this stunt, or send you to rot in the dungeon." He said coldly.
-
Mildred shuffled backwards, fear in her eyes. Not for the first time that day. She didn't know who Nosfera was, but if Jack was planning to use that her as a punishment she can't be nice.
'W-what was I supposed to do?' she asked, hands and voice shaking. -
Jack frowned even deeper than usual, rage glazing his face along with sorrow. "All I wanted to do was talk. You denied me that small courtesy." Jack said. He stepped closer to Mildred, guiding smokey with him.
-
'You're the one who kidnapped me!' Mildred snapped, all of a sudden fierce. She balled her fists in anger, brows furrowing into a glare. Anger suddenly surged through her. 'I have a life in my own town, you can't blame me for running.'
-
"I can and will. I didn't bring you here nor did I tell my guards to bring you specifically. You mortals just loooove to assume we undead just do whatever we want but there's a damned system and it takes a whole lot more than one common life to set it off balance!" Jack shouted. He grabbed onto Mildred's wrist forcing her up. His blood red eyes glimmered with anger as the corners of his scalera turned black. His guard started to appear from all directions of the street as he bared his fangs.
-
Mildred's fierceness disappeared, her breathing quickening with her fear. 'Please don't hurt me,' she whispered desperately, trying to pull away from his grasp.
-
"why. Shouldn't. I." Jack hissed before throwing Mildred onto the back of Smokey. Soldiers. Let us return! This time the human will not escape!" Jack shouted to his guard. "Sir! A guard shouted out galloping a skeletal horse to the front. "Since it is early in the night, I would like to search for the other fugitive mortal, the one with red hair." Said the young guardsman. Jacks eye narrowed almost enraged, but on his face a deep frown cut through. "You can try, but you'll never find the fugitive." Jack said with pain in his voice.
-
Mildred almost screamed as they took off. She held onto him tightly, not wanting to fall off. She dreaded what was to come. Would he kill her? Eat her alive? Or just throw her in a cell and watch her rot?
Why she'd even tried to run away was a mystery to her. It was inevitable he'd find her. -
Jack pulled into the stables and jumped off of Smokey. Guards, take the human to the old fugitives room, the one without the windows." Jack said. He pet his horse. "I'm sorry you had to carry that creature Smokey. It must be dreadful for you. Here." Jack said offering his horse a crab apple. Smokey took the apple along with a layer of Jack's skin. He pet the horse and whispered to it gently.
-
Mildred glared at the royal vampire, trying to kick at him as the guards grabbed her arms. 'Monster!' she shouted, and was swiftly dragged out of the stables. 'Vile, horrible man!' she yelled, before being silenced with a hand to her mouth.
She was dragged into a smaller room than she had before. It was lit by only a candle, and Mildred was practically thrown inside. -
Jack didn't care about what the mortal said. It was nothing new. "I need to go now Smokey, I have a visitor after all. The stables are gonna be full tonight old girl." Jack said to his horse. Smokey had been like a friend all throughout his life as a prince, so he liked to tell her when he was leaving the stables. He wished he could keep more horses to keep Smokey company but alas it was not practical. Soon, he headed up the stairs to have a formal conversation with the town's necromancer, nosfera.
-
Mildred banged her shoulder against the door, trying to break the lock. She ended up with a cut shoulder and getting nowhere.
'Ugh!' she groaned, leaning against the door with her head in her hands. -
Jack finally got to the throne room and sat down in his throne filled with boredom. Nosfera giggled "I think I smell that human's blood. You really should just eat her. After all, she could always take your other eye~" nosfera said. "I don't want to talk about the fugitive theif right now nosfera." Jack said, rubbing the space between his eyes. He sighed thinking about Fredrick
-
Mildred sighed. Maybe the only way to fix this was...
She sighed. She had to try.
Mildred knocked on the door, assuming at least one man was guarding her room. 'Hey, guard?'
The mad huffed. 'What, mortal?'
'Could you send for the prince, please?' she asked, in the most innocent voice she could manage. She didn't plan to escape this time, though. 'I wish to talk to him.' -
"you're so sensitive about it. He took you for a fool my prince." Nosfera said. "That's enough." Jack said sitting up. "Well, moving on, why'd you send out the army for this other human fugitive. Y'know, instead of just killing her first?" Nosfera asked. "She was entertaining. Also I'm really tired of mortals just walking in and trying to walk all over me" Jack said. It was the truth. He was exhausted of it all.
