"this is my palace, and those are my subjects. All three of you, including you human, state your names." Jack said, his voice still dripping with authority. It was almost as if a mouse would follow his orders if spoken like that. He used to practice speaking formally before he lost all hope. He felt the eye patch that graced his face and gritted his teeth. Memories he should not think of ran fresh through his head as he felt the fabric.
-
The guards spoke their names, but the human just eyed the prince with suspicion. She was a criminal and broke rules for her living, but felt it best if she listened to the man who sat on that large chair.
'Mildred Emerson,' she said quietly, then clenched her jaw. 'What is it you want from me?' -
"you have been brought here as a sacrifice, Mildred." Jack said. He stood up walking closer to the window on his left. "It's a dreary night. They used to lock up on the new moon night for this exact reason." Jack said touching the glass where the moon would've shown. He could almost imagine the reflection he could've had in the glass. He wished the glass could show him what he really looked like, but undead had no reflection. He glanced back to the human with his stern, cold eye.
-
'A-A sacrifice?' Mildred stuttered, her voice now shaky and slightly high-pitched. Now she really need to get out. She wriggled her wrists in the ropes, trying to untie them, but to no avail. She looked back up at the man. 'Why?!' she demanded.
-
"well, everyone needs to drink, and a royal like me would seem disgraceful drinking pig blood." Jack said he stepped closer looming over everything as the candle light seemed to grow. It was almost as if the fire was drawn towards him. Like he sapped the energy from it.
-
Mildred's breathing quickened as she looked up at the man. 'You're not human,' she muttered, inching backwards. 'Are you?'
-
"isn't that obvious?" Jack said, his voice rampant with annoyance. "Were my blood red and my moon white skin not enough? Do I need to show you?" Jack said sternly. He took a set forward his shadow casting over everything like a poltergeist. The room seemed to grow cold. The candles dimmed showing how his eyes glowed in the dark.
-
Mildred shuffled backwards until her back was against the wall, shaking with fear. 'L-let me go!' she shouted.
-
"why should I?" Questioned jack. His face was as stoney as a marble statue he was finally right in front of where Mildred was shouting just earlier. He was curious on her answer. Humans always said the most interesting things.
-
'Because...' she trailed off, searching her mind for a good reason. 'I, well... My blood is dirty. I'm a thief,' she said, wondering if monsters followed God's lead. 'I'm unholy.'
-
"Mortal, all your people know my race as unholy. You think us so unholy you believe a simple pair of overlapping sticks will drive us off. I do not follow your god, therefore why should I care if you're unholy?" Jack said coldly. He took another step forward. This human had the usual annoying misinformation.
-
Mildred squeaked, cuddling her legs to her chest as if making herself smaller would drive him off. 'I.. I..' she stumbled over her words, trying to find a good excuse or lie. 'Pig's blood can't be that bad,' she squeaked, wishing the wall would form a barrier around her. 'Bacon is pretty good.'
-
"pig blood is the most rancid thing we can stomach. It's for peasants and beggars. Do I look like a peasant?" Jack said, leaning down to be closer to her level. You could almost feel the malicious aura building around him. He was wondering what other reasons she'd give
-
'No, you look very... Distinguished,' Mildred said, inching backwards as much as she could. 'What about cow blood? There's a nice farm down the road from the town...' she said, her voice growing more quiet it almost sounds like a mumble.
-
"cow blood is barely digestible. That'd give me stomach problems for weeks." Jack said his eyes almost glowing brighter. He needed to see how the mortal would make her next excuse, if she even could. He almost laughed at the thought of it, but kept a straight face.
