"yes. The bulk of the transformation happens in the 10 dark days but you only truly start being vampiric when you kill the creature. It is a symbol of you truly renouncing your humanity. Without that death you will lose all progress you've gone through the minute the sun touches your skin." Jack said. He'd seen in happen before, the man has betrayed his king but wasn't ready to kill so he walked out and as the sun rose the man lost the paleness in his skin.
-
'Wow,' Mildred mumbled. 'That's- That's pretty cool,' she said.
-
"it is a very formal process but not one I recommend. I never had the chance to tell Frederick about it but I think he'd be heartbroken to look pale. Plus I don't know if he'd ever be able to renounce the day even if he hated his father and the human kingdom." Jack said. He wished he could've but he knew it wouldn't change anything
-
'I don't think I could, either,' Mildred said, wiping her hands on the back of her dress. 'The sun is nice. And sunrises are absolutely beautiful.' She remembered every new year she and her brother would wake up early to watch the sunset, as well as every Christmas and birthday.
-
The talk of how beautiful the sun was filled jack with rage, but he tried his best not to show it. He finished his milk and stood up. "I'm going to go open my pitcher, it's almost high moon." Jack said
-
Mildred nodded, finishing her crossiant.
-
Jack stormed off with the sealed pitcher. This human certainly loved rubbing it in his face that he'd never be able to see the sun. He punched a door. It was less destructive if he did that. Wilhelm walked in to gather dishes. "where's his highness?" Wilhelm asked
-
Mildred heard a crash and winced. She looked up at Wilhelm. 'He left to drink from his pitcher,' she answered, standing up. 'Thank you for the meal.'
-
"You're welcome Ms human." Wilhelm said. He picked up the plates as he spoke. Jack meanwhile was sitting in his room drinking from the pitcher
-
'Please, call me Mildred,' she said with a small smile, then left the dining room. She then realised with dismay she'd left her book in the throne room next to the stool. Mildred sighed and walked to the library, deciding to try and find the person who played the mean trick on her.
-
Jack thought about the sun. He knew it was beautiful but it felt cruel to him for someone to talk about it knowing he could never see the sun. He also thought of Wilhelm with ears strong enough to hear Alexander breathing all the way at the bottom of the jail having to hear about the sun he'd never see again. He couldn't stand thinking of how Wilhelm, who was practically his dad had to suffer through hearing about the beautiful sun
-
Mildred, as she walked into the library, realised she'd probably made a big mistake. For a split moment she'd almost forgotten Jack was a vampire, and had spoken about the sunrise which he could not see. She made a soft groaning sound and dug her fingernails into the palms of her hands.
'Dammit!' she exclaimed at herself, completely vexed she'd said such a thing. -
Jack finished the blood and headed towards the stables. He wanted to go for a ride on smokey, or at least talk to his favorite horse. He figured he should also visit his mushroom cave and the party was soon at hand. No doubt Cane already started watching Mildred from the shadows.
-
Mildred sighed and sat down on the reading chair, rubbing the bridge of her nose. After being shunned for so long she should've figured she'd end up offending someone at some point without realising. After about she huffed and decided to look around the library for either the trickster or someone she could talk to.
-
Im the library, a giggling could be heard from all around. Meanwhile jack walked through the halls and looked through the window. He noticed Wilhelm in the garden with the book Mildred had left in the throne room. He was preserving the drawings by getting it absorbed by some cloth and a piece of bread. Jack smiled at the scene sorrowfully and stepped into the stables. Smokey neighed when he walked in. He of course brought one of the green apples that smokey preferred. "Hey smokey. Do you wanna go outside girl?" Jack said as he pet Smokey's mane
