Natsuki shrugged, thinking to herself, 'I've been in your class for the past two years,' but obviously didn't say anything, and walked towards the door slowly.

“Wait!” Nikolai called out, walking up to her. “I-I’m sorry about the conversation at lunch. And um, I don’t think I ever actually introduced myself to you at lunch. Names Nikolai, or Nik for short.

Natsuki gave a small smile and nodded, opening the door and holding it open for Nikolai.

Nikolai smiled as he went through the door, trying to figure out how to talk to Nat.
“Um,” he started “Do you know ASL?” He didn’t know, but maybe she could teach him. “Y’know, so our conversations aren’t just me talking.” -
Natsuki gave a nod, shutting the door behind her. She tilted her head in a "but how will that help?" way.

(That’s what I was thinking of asking, I have USA Western time zone, so it’s 5AM where I am rn)
“Well if I ask you something that’s not a yes or no question, or if you want to respond you can sign what you want to say” Nikolai said. “If we talk more, I guess.” -
Natsuki gave a small nod. She did want to talk more to him, he was the only one in the school who didn't think she was weird.
Not yet, at least. -
“So does that mean you’ll teach me ASL?” Nikolai asked, unable to stop the excitement and hopefulness from his voice.

Nat nodded with a grin.

“YES!” Nik said, a little louder than he intended. “I mean- cool.”

Natsuki nearly burst into laughter at that. She walked over to her locker and put the books she didn't need away, pulling her homework out and stuffing it in her bag. Then the home bell rang, a loud shrill sound that told them they could go home.
Once again, Natsuki winced and willed the sound to go away, letting out a shaky breath when it did. -
Nikolai held his hands out to her almost instinctively.
“You ok?” He asked. He knew the bell was loud and annoying, but he had never seen anyone act like that over it, and Nat had twice in one day. -
Natsuki nodded, realising her hands were shaking and hastily shoved them in her pockets. She forced a smile.

“You sure?” Nikolai asked, not wanting to push her too far, but still wanted to make sure she was ok.
