'Is something wrong?' Anne asked, looking at Lily. 'You seem agitated.'

Again, Lily shook her head. She didn't think it was worth the syrchonised back and forth snapping between them simply because she wanted answers.

'Alright,' Anne frowned though didn't pry and turned back to the water.

Lily sighed, now bored. She stood up and brushed specks of sand off her skirt. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she started to walk up the beach alongside the ocean.

Anne quickly stood and hurried to catch up with Lily, before falling into step next to the latter. 'Do you want to go back in the water or just walk?' she asked, genuinely happy with whatever Lily chose.

"Just walk for now" Lily suggested- she had now fully dried off. Trying to rid of her frustration she took Anne's hand as she walked across the beach.

Anne smiled at how not-mad Lily seemed at her, in fact, the latter seemed the opposite. She gently squeezed Lily's hand and looked back out in front of her. 'Alright.'

Lily smiled softly still clutching Anne's hand. She looked out to the sea- the waves lapping away. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" She commented staring out at the horizon.

'It is,' Anne agreed, following Lily's gaze to sea.

"I wasn't just talking about the sea you know, though of course your not an it" Lily chuckled complimenting Anne in the most modest way possible.

Anne smiled, tilting her head at Lily. 'You're beautiful too,' she responded. -
Lily twitched-nobody had ever called her that before-she was always girl, or child, or ugly. "Thanks" she muttered feeling generally pleased but confused at the same time.

Anne blinked then looked away, noticing Lily's twitch and wondering if she'd said something wrong. She kept her eyes in front of her as they continued to walk.

Lily sighed sensing Anne's anxiety. "You didn't do anything wrong, you know" she muttered squeezing her friends hand in what she hoped was a comforting way.
