"And if it weren't for you, I'd still be rotting away in that cottage in a life of utter solitude," Ander returned. "In a way, you saved my life as well. You were the wake up call I needed."
-
"Glad to be of help," Kenna mumbled, feeling kind of embarrassed at Ander saying that.
-
An awkward silence filled the room, interrupted when Ander uncomfortably cleared his throat. "Well then. We'd best eat the pie Crypta made for us before it gets cold, shouldn't we?"
-
"Yeah," Kenna said. She went back to her spot on the couch where her pie was. She felt like she wasn't going to be talking any more anytime soon unless she wanted to make things more awkward.
-
Ander took his own plate of pie, frowning at it as his fork hovered near his slice. Why was he so awkward? He was never awkward like this. That was part of the reason why he was such a valued assassin, because he adjusted with ease. And yet...
Well, there was no use dwelling on it. As he stabbed his fork into his slice, Crypta returned from outside with two empty plates. -
Kenna looked up at Crypta as she came in. "Where's Lilac?" she asked, immediately noticing the absence of the other girl.
-
I just realized how young they all are))
Ander and Kenna are the crisp age of 19 and Crypta's probably like 21 or something))
"Outside," Crypta said with a sigh. "I swear, I'm always surrounded by moody teenagers."
Ander frowned. "I'm almost 20."
"Almost 20 doesn't count. You're still a moody teenager," she said, waving a dirty fork at him in reprimand. -
(I'm not blind and didn't see this at all noooo)
"He's probably the least moody person here," Kenna commented. "Teenager or not." -
This whole time they're teenagers XD good grief I thought he was like 21 or something))
"Thank you," Ander said, giving Crypta a look. "See? Kenna agrees with me."
"Kenna is a youngling like yourself. Therefore, both of your opinions on the matter are irrelevant. Haven't you two ever heard of the phrase 'respect your elders?'" -
"This doesn't sound good," Kenna said. She was now imagining a power-hungry Crypta. And that didn't sound great.
-
She could outside and chat with Lilac 👀))
"And where has that ever gotten me, dear friend?" Ander commented, sliding his dirty dishes into the sink. "Only into more trouble." -
"She's starting to have a point, you know," Kenna said with a smile. She stood up to put her dishes away. "But us youngsters are still superior."
She looked out the window, wondering where Lilac was. "I'll be back in a few minutes," she said, then walked out the door to go find the missing girl. -
Crypta shook her head with a laugh. "It seems that I'm outnumbered. Very well then, youngsters are superior."
"Thank you," Ander replied. He watched Kenna leave, a look of worry in his eyes. "Be careful." -
"I'll be fine," Kenna said before exiting the door. She looked around the clearing to see if she could spy the female assassin. Eventually she did spot her and began making her way towards her.
"Hey," Kenna said, walking up to stand near Lilac. "Are you alright?" -
Lilac was staring off into the distance, her arms crossed and her jaw set. When Kenna spoke, her silent reverie was broken, looking at her in surprise.
She laughed it off, smoothing her hair back. "It's been a while since someone's asked me that. Yes, I'm fine." She heaved a sigh. "Ander's just kind of an idiot sometimes."
