“Well, the old man told Felix to go out and get some meat.” Axel pointed at the meat with his finger. “Maybe we could make a stew or cook up some rice with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes?”
-
Rasia shook her head. "Soup will take a while and we're on a time crunch. While you were asleep he did specify a healthy meal. And two servings of carbs is not healthy. Carbs are energy for right away and if you don't use them right away it's unhealthy, your body doesn't know what to do with it, so it turns it into fat."
-
Axel raised an eyebrow as he stared at Rasia in confusion. For most of his life he had been living off of microwavable food, so he wasn’t used to cooking. If he followed a very specific recipe it was a piece of cake. Usually, when his small mafia gang was still together, the people who had more talent with cooking would give him a few tips and tricks to work off of. They were useful people till the end.
“Let me guess, the specific meal he mentioned was tofu?” Axel inquired. He crossed his arms and stared up at Rasia, his face expressing boredom. -
"Tofu along with the meat Felix brought," Rasia said, rifling through the various ingredients. For some reason no recipes were coming to mind.
-
Axel tilted his head to the side slightly as he stared at Rasia mess around with the ingredients she had gathered. "We could make him meat stew with a side of tofu?" He suggested. "And then we could add some rice along with it."
-
Rasia shook her head. "Sure, I can't think of anything else better to do," she said.
-
"I sure can," Axel glowered at Skipper, who wasn't paying a sliver of attention to the two cooks. He stared at the row of knives that were lined in one of the drawers and wrapped his hand around the handle of a sharp butcher knife. "How about we take this little thing and-!"
Axel gasped and released the knife from his tight grip and threw his hands over his mouth in horror. No, no! He couldn't think about or do anything violent. Rasia's life was on the line, after all. -
Raisa started gathering carrots, celery, onion, garlic, and other spices. "Is there tofu here or do we have to make it by hand?" she asked.
-
“There should be some in the freezer. We might need to heat it up though.” Axel answered. “Although, knowing the old man, there would probably be some sort of trick to it.”
-
"Well then let's just do the best we can," Rasia said and they got started on cooking
-
Axel nodded his head and started preparing the meat. He seasoned the raw meat with some funky looking seasoning, quietly cackling to himself as he did so.
-
Rasia didn't notice this as she started cutting up vegetables into small pieces. Afterwards, she looked for the tofu. She found it, and opened the package.
-
Axel stared at the tofu. It was as solid as a rock. Of course, that would make sense considering how long it had been in the freezer, but he couldn’t help but wonder if that was one of the obstacles.
“Oi, old man.” Axel turned around and glared at Skipper, who was having a small chat with Felix. Skipper paused and turned to look at Axel. “What did you do to the tofu?”
Skipper pressed a hand on his chest and dramatically gasped, his face twisted into an offended expression. “Nothing at all! Is frozen food something new to you?”
“No, but tofu that looks that hard is.” Axel quipped, crossing his arms. -
"Isn't frozen food usually hard?" Rasia said. "We'll just wait for it to thaw."
-
“But do we have that much time?” Axel asked, his words laced with poison. “The old man didn’t give you a time limit for cooking, did he?”
