"I know how to cook quite a lot of things, and if I don't know how to cook it all I need is a recipe," Rasia answered. "What are you in the mood for, sweet, savory, spicy, creamy, what'll it be?"
-
"Something healthy, if you'll make it, please. Sucking off the souls of people doesn't give you medicine you need." Skipper pointed at the dolls, his smile growing wider and wider. "My joints are creaky and taking people's lives just don't fix them, you know?"
-
Rasia's heart stopped as she stared wide-eyed at the dolls who were once people.
"I-I'll figure something out, then," she said, doing her best to seem unfazed by this new information. -
"Perfect! Now, Felix should be back soon, so let's decide on what you'll make! Have you ever made tofu before?"
-
"No, I haven't," Rasia said.
-
“Oh! Well, in that case, please make ten servings of tofu, madam. We will be feasting on the delectable beans. Fufu!” Skipper chuckled as he pulled out a chair from the marble counter in the center of the room and sat on it.
-
"Is there some sort of recipe I can use?" Rasia asked with a raised eyebrow. He couldn't expect her to cook something she had absolutely no idea how to make. Felix may have had to do two things, but he had good experience with both of them.
-
“Rasia, dear, let me ask you something.” Skipper put a hand on her shoulder as a way to give off some sort of comfort. It most likely did the complete opposite. He grinned. “Are you exceptional at trusting your instincts?”
-
"Considering I got kidnapped by a guy possessed by a madman?" Rasia said. "Not exceptionally."
-
Skipper sighed and shook his head.
“The youngsters these days are quite thickheaded. Back in my day, we would have never taken in a stranger fallen down in an alleyway. Why, we wouldn’t even go near a dark, narrow hall!”
He exhaled once more and then walked towards a wooden bookshelf with three shelves. It was lacking exactly what it was made for. Books.
Skipper’s eyes examined the bookshelf up and down before he found a piece of wood sticking out from it. With a small gasp of excitement, he clapped his hands together in glee and snatched the small piece of wood from its place. The bookshelf creaked, almost as if it were in pain itself from having a part of it taken away. A hole opened up at the back of the middle shelf and out popped old dusty recipe books. -
Rasia wanted to talk back at the man but held herself back. The last thing she wanted to do was get herself into trouble.
She looked in curiosity at the hidden bookshelf behind the bookshelf. Suddenly a thought occurred to her.
"Why did you send out Felix to hunt for meat when you're making me make tofu? That's too much protein for a balanced meal." -
Skipper shrugged his shoulders.
“I honestly have no clue. Who says protein is bad for these bones?” -
Rasia narrowed her eyes at him. "You seem like one who has every step planned out to perfection. You also asked for a healthy meal, and too much protein means it's not healthy. Now I'm curious about this little contradiction."
-
“Contradiction? My oh my, such a big word for a little girl. You've grown up so fast!”
-
"That's beside the point," Rasia glared at him.
