"Yeah, my grades are good," Cassie said, hoping they just forgot they mentioned the friends part.
-
"And with the friend part, Cassie and I have been doing pretty good lately.” Porak announced with a smug smirk and a wink towards Cassie.
-
Cassie smiled at him and rolled her eyes. "Do I have to wipe that smirk off your face for you?" she said
-
Porak thought about his answer carefully. He didn’t want to tick Thalia off but he also wanted to somewhat annoy Cassie. Well, living your life only happen once. Might as well make the best of it.
"Oh? Would you like to?” Porak inquired with a small smile.
It was supposed to sound much cooler but it sounded absolutely terrible. He should have studied pickup lines on the internet. -
Cassie rolled her eyes and poked his cheek in such a way that made his mouth change shape.
"I'll clear the table," she said, getting up and began gathering the plates and silverware and such. -
Porak whipped his head back and forth as if to look for someone before whispering frantically in Carrie's ear, his voice lowered so low that it was barely possible make out what he could be saying.
"And leave me to have an awkward conversation with your parents? Listen, I respect them and think they're really cool and everything, but they're as intimidating as heck!"
But not quiet enough.
Donald checked his nails, trying to imitate the stereotypical popular valley girls in the movies. "Oh my gawd, Thalia, whatever shall he dooo? This is totally like visiting your parents again. Bwhalalalalahah!" -
Cassie rolled her eyes once again. "You can help me if you want, but you're the guest, so you shouldn't work," she said.
-
"A very scared, intimidated guest, might I add." Porak hissed, rubbing his arms together as if he were cold. He started gathering plates and cups.
-
"You're a vampire," Cassie pointed out. She walked into the kitchen. "How are you scared by them?"
-
"Oh, I don't know, maybe the fact that they raised a strong girl? They'd give a small vampire like me a beatdown!"
-
"They had to teach me how to be strong," Cassie said. "Otherwise I wouldn't be able to survive. I don't open myself completely to anyone but them, Porak. Not even you. Not yet." She set the plates on the counter then went back into the dining room to get the stray cups and forks and salt.
-
A pang of guilt pierced through Porak's soul. He bit his lip and looked at the ground in shame, reflecting on what he had done to Cassie in the past. It wasn't like he could prance to Cassie's good side after what he had done, but he'd certainly like to try. He gathered up some of the paper napkins and threw them away.
"Ah, finally, kids clean up while we sit around and do nothing." Donald sighed, happy that he didn't have to get up from his seat and do anything. -
Cassie rolled her eyes with a smile. "You know I've been clearing the table for most of my life, right?" She said.
-
"Yes, I know Cas, I know." Donald said, chuckling softly. "You're a very good worker. Your mother and I applaud you."
-
Cassie walked back into the kitchen and began doing the dishes. "How long until you need to go back home?" she asked. It was about seven in the evening now, she didn't want Porak getting in trouble.
