They dug into the nachos. Thalia had made enough for an army.
-
“Sooo, how has you job been going?” Porak asked, munching on a chip covered in cheese and other toppings.
-
*your *jobs
-
(Where are we going with this rp)
"Fairly well," Thalia said. "Although the Academy refused to give me a raise again." -
(We could have Porak accidentally feed on Cassie? Like he has one of his blood-thirst episodes and can’t control himself, so he goes for Cassie?)
“That’s rather unfortunate. Why would that happen, though? I’m sure you’re a hard worker.” Porak said, raising an eyebrow. -
"They wouldn't say why," Thalia shrugged. She looked at Porak. "What do your parents do?"
-
“My dad is a doctor. He makes a lot of money, surprisingly. My mom’s a lawyer.” Porak said. “I’m not trying to be mean, but I think she should get a different job. Her current one just doesn’t seem to suit her that well, if you know what I mean.”
-
(Donald's awfully quiet)
Thalia slowly nodded. "Not everyone is cut out for it. Does she enjoy it though?" -
(OH-)
(Sorry about that XD)
"I’d love to say that she does, but considering how she looks and acts every time she comes back from work, probably not.” Porak admitted, crushing a chip under his finger.
“She should look into some other jobs if her current one isn’t working out.” Donald said, putting down a chip covered in cheese and wiping his hands on a paper napkin. "Heck, she might even find one that suits her!”
“I’ve tried convincing her to get another job, but she just isn’t having it. My dad gave up on trying to convince her to do so, and I’m starting to think that maybe begging her to get another job is worthless.” Porak mumbled through his gritted teeth. He was genuinely worried at his mother’s wellbeing, but just thinking about her disregarding every plead made his anger start to bubble. -
"Do you know why she stays?" Thalia asked.
-
"Apparently she’s really stubborn about that crap because 'she wants to perfect every single job she works at so she can be good at everything.’” Porak raised his voice to a high-pitched tone as he made quotation marks with his fingers. He rolled his eyes and gave a weary sigh. "It’s really stupid.”
“I’ll say!” Donald shook his head. “Not to be rude, Thalia don’t yell at me, my love, but your mother seems to have some really dumb beliefs. Nobody can be good at everything. That’s just life. There’ll come a time when you get a job that you’re terrible at. And, when that time comes, quit the job and get a better one.” Donald rose a finger to prove his point.
“I see why you make the least amount of money out of this entire family.” Porak chuckled softly. “But your advice is decent and understandable. Nobody can be good at everything, but shouldn’t one at least try to get better at the job?”
“Nope. Just get a job you love and are good at.” Donald stuffed a couple chips in his mouth. Porak’s eyes widened at the sudden realization.
“Hey, old guy, you’re onto something!” Porak yelped. Donald raised an eyebrow at the nickname. “Maybe my mother stays at the job not because she necessarily likes it, but she’s good at it.” -
"Well, preferably, you'd like to have both," Thalia said. "I wanted to be a teacher, and based on the reactions of the kids I seem to be doing a pretty good job of it. Power and money are unfulfilling. Do what you love and be guided by what you're driven by. If Cassie wanted to be a CEO of a groundbreaking company, we would support her as much as we could. If she wanted to be something like a carpenter, we would be just as happy for her because she'd be doing what she loves."
-
"So instead of chastising her for what she does then I should be encouraging her instead?” Porak asked.
-
"Exactly," Thalia said. She then turned to her daughter. "Cassie, you haven't spoken much yet. Is everything ok?"
"Yep," Cassie smiled. "Just watching you and Dad give life/family advice to Porak." -
Donald laughed heartily and ruffled Cassie's hair.
"I say it's about time we heard some more about you! How have your grades been at school? Are your friends doing well?"
Porak grinned along with Donald as they awaited Cassie’s answer.
