Hurt washed over Porak’s face. However, he quickly took control of his feelings and put on a weak smile.
"Oh... I see. Quite frankly, I don’t trust myself either." He chuckled. -
"Sorry," Cassie said. "It's just...I still struggle to...you know...put the past behind us."
-
"No, it’s fine." Porak muttered. "You have a right to struggle."
-
"But I think if you can win me over you can win over my parents," she said.
-
Porak's ears perked up at that.
"Do you really think so?" He asked hopefully. -
"Definitely," she said. "It also helps that my parents trust my judgement."
-
"Aaa, that’s so relieving to hear." Porak sighed, leaning back onto the wall. “I was scared I didn’t have a chance."
-
"Is Porak staying for supper?" Thalia called.
Cassie looked at him. "Do you want to?" -
"Yeah, that sounds nice.” Porak smiled. Maybe he could win their trust tonight! Or, at least, some of their trust.
-
"Great!!" Cassie grinned. "Now I gotta make sure she doesn't poison whatever we're having," she muttered as she walked into the kitchen. Garlic was a commonly used ingredient in her house.
-
(OH- 💀)
Porak tapped his fingers against the table and whistled cheerfully as he waited for Cassie to come back. -
"Okay," Cassie said coming back with the bottles of garlic and the bulbs of them that they had. She stuffed them into a drawer in an end table. "Now you're safe," she said.
-
Porak gazed at the drawer in confusion, tiny lightbulbs silently creeping their way into his blunt mind.
"OH-“ He gasped. "THAT MAKES SENSE. Thanks, Cassie." -
"No problem," she said as she sat down on the couch.
