"Why not?" Nathan replied, curiosity gleaming in his eyes.

Megan looked at him. "One, it's against the law to abuse your kids, and two, why would a father be mean to his daughter?"

"Because...because," Nathan said, thinking. "Because not many daddies are nice daddies."

"Here there are," Megan said.

"Now I want a nice daddy," Nathan pouted.

"How long are you staying?" Megan asked.

"Forever!" Nathan said joyously. "I'm here to protect you."

"Well, then you don't have to deal with a mean daddy again, don't you," Megan said.

Nathan nodded. "I'm safe here. You protect me too."
The time went off, signaling that the cake was done. -
Megan grabbed a toothpaste and an oven mitt. She opened the oven and stuck the toothpick into the cake. She pulled it out and examined it carefully.

Nathan almost pounced on it immediately. "Is it done?" he asked impatiently. -
(We did that, remember? But it kinda failed because I wasn't making any typos)
"Three more minutes," Megan said. She pushed the rack back into the oven and set the timer for three more minutes. -
Ye, that was kinda sad))
Nathan put his hands against the hot oven, peering inside. -
"It's not always done right away," Megan told Nathan.
