"You can have a taste," Megan said, "But it has to go in the oven before it's done." -
Oh pfft XD))
Nathan held out his hands expectantly. -
"Just dip your finger in," Megan said.

"But I stepped on the floor," Nathan said. "Not clean is bad for you."

"We can handle some germs," Mega said. "It's good for our immune system."

"Okay!" Nathan said happily, dipping his finger in and taking a generous fingerful of chocolate cake batter.

Megan poured the rest of it into the cake pan before he got a chance to take another fingerful and put it in the oven. She looked at the box and set the timer according to the directions.

Nathan sat right in front of the oven, his hands pressed against it.

Megan turned on the oven light so that he'd be able to watch.

"Ooh," Nathan said in awe. "Pretty."

"Mhmm," Megan said sitting next to him also watching the oven bake the cake.

He rolled over and looked at Megan. "Today is happy."

"What was yesterday, then?" Megan asked.

"Happy day," Nathan said, his legs bicycling in the air.

"And the day before?" Megan asked. Then she realized that he hadn't known her the day before yesterday.
