Nathan let out a series of horrible screeches and grinding, nerve-grating noises as well as a lot of growling. "That's Hellion."

For some reason, Megan froze up when she heard that, almost like hearing the language had stunned her. When he finished she shuddered back into movement. "That's awful-sounding," she said.

"Yep!" Nathan said cheerfully. "That's why I like Englick better."

"English," Megan corrected. She started measuring out the oil and water.

"English," Nathan repeated. He dabbed at a droplet of spilled water.

"Alright, pour the oil and water in," Megan said, "And make sure you don't spill."

Nathan stretched his trembling hands forward, as if he were about to carry a sacred object.

Nathan dumped the water in with a sploosh. "I did it!" he said excitedly.

Nathan let out a cry. "Why did you break the baby?"

"It's not a baby," Megan said. "They were taken before they could become babies."

"It looks like a baby," Nathan said, lifting one up to the light.

Megan took it out of his hands and cracked it into the bowl. Then she started mixing the ingredients together. -

"Can I eat it now?" Nathan said eagerly.
