As Evelyn and Adrian started walking, footsteps could be heard following behind them. Adrian grabbed Evelyn's hand and picked up the pace, the sound of his shoes echoing in the empty hall. "The girl you came with, please tell me she is waiting on you, with a car started." He muttered softly to where they could only hear.
-
(I promise my responses will get longer :'3)
-
"She's in the car, but I don't know if the car's started," Evelyn replied quietly. She started coming up with reasons to tell Madison why they were taking an extra person home. She could feel her heart beat quick beats against her chest as she heard the footsteps gradually coming closer and closer.
-
(That's okay, don't worry about the length)
-
(Sorry it's late. Today has been quite interesting)
Adrian heard the footsteps coming closer and gripped Evelyn's hand tighter. He started to pick up the pace, and before he knew it, they were outside the front doors of the venue. "Uhm, might I ask where exactly she is?" He glanced over his shoulder. So far, they were in the clear, but they had to hurry. -
(Don't worry about it)
Evelyn led him to the dark blue car, nearly running. "Start the car," Evelyn told Madison as she got into the passenger seat. Madison just looked at her. "Start it! Quick! We have to go now!"
Madison started it. "Go! Go! Go!" Evelyn urged her when Adrian had gotten into the car. Madison slammed the gas and the car took off. -
Adrian sat with his back plastered to the seat, his heart racing a hundred miles an hour. I did it. I actually did it. He smiled for a moment, his body relaxed. He hadn't felt this kind of peace in years. He looked over at Evelyn, and gave a small smile. "Thank you." He said, exhaling deeply. Before he could continue, and thunk on the back of the car window could be heard. Adrian didn't want to turn around, but despite what his mind said, he did.
Following behind them at high speed were his associate's, except their forms had completely changed to those of demonic imps. "Whatever either of you do, don't look back." He slowly turned his head toward the front, his tone uncannily calm. "And Madison, please speed up before we have the entirity of hells army on our ass." -
Evelyn wasn't even going to ask how he knew Madison's name. She had just found out demons exist, she wasn't going to be surprised at anything for awhile. "Just keep your eyes on the road and don't crash into anyone," she said.
"Who's he?" Madison asked as the car sped up. "Evelyn, what is going on?"
"He's being chased," Evelyn said. "I'm helping him." -
"I'll try to explain it whenever we aren't being chased by the minions of hell, I promise." He looked back and shook his head. He had a feeling this wasn't going to end pretty. Something always went down after the shows, but this one was completely his fault. He had to protect Evelyn and her friend at all costs. Another thunk against the window could be heard, this time accompanied by the sound of cracking glass. "No matter what happens, you'll both be safe. I assure you." Adrian gritted his teeth together as one of the imps flew past his window and landed on the cars hood.
-
(Just so you know, Madison is dispensable)
"WHAT IS THAT?!" Madison shrieked as she did her best not to swerve off the road at the sight of the creature of the hood of their car.
"He's being serious!" Evelyn told her. "Keep driving." She put a hand on her arm, encouraging her. -
(Okay! Thank you for letting me know! ☺)
Adrian watched as the imp on the hood of the car started to punch the windshield glass. Within seconds the glass was broken and the imp half-way into the car. Adrian watched as Madison slammed on the breaks, on of the imps scrapping is stomach on glass came careening into the passengers seat. The other busted through the backseat window, causing glass shards to explode everywhere. Adrian quickly pulled Evelyn out of the car, and called for Madison to come as well. At most, they had a few seconds to gain a head start, and right now, it looked as if nothing was in sight -
Evelyn nearly screamed when the imp fell into her lap, but then she found herself being pulled out of the car by Adrian. Then she realized that Madison was still in the car. She shot up as quickly as possible. "Madison!" she cried out. "Madison get out of the car! Get out!"
-
Adrian shook his head as the imps started to move. Madison finally registered the moment, but it was to late. As she opened the car door, and put one foot one the ground, one of the imps pulled her back inside. Her screams could be heard as they bit into her flesh and tore her apart. Adrian quickly led Evelyn away. Adrian looked around the vast amount of space, and noticed there was a field in the distance. "Come on." He tugged her slightly. He could tell that she was in shock, but they needed to keep moving.
He pulled her along and made his way into the field. After about twenty minutes, he stopped and sat down. Hopefully they were far enough away so they didn't have to keep running. Adrian put his head in his hands, and sighed. This all could have been avoided if it weren't for him. He looked at Evelyn. "How are you holding up?" He said softly. -
"She's...dead," Evelyn said quietly, still stunned. Her best friend was dead. She had never actually seen anyone die, especially so horrific a death and someone who was like a sister to her. She hadn't started crying yet. She didn't know why.
-
"I'm sorry. I really am. I didn't fully realize what would happen." He looked at her, then down at his hands and thought back to the day where all of this began.
The sun shone into the hospital window, lighting up a vase of flowers next to a bed. The figure in the bed looked to be in their mid-thirties, and had an oxygen tube in their nose. They had no hair, and blood splotches could be seen under their skin. The door to the room could be seen opening, and a boy walks in. In his hand is a set of balloons and a get well card. He places them next to the flowers and sits in a empty chair across from her.
"Mom..." He whispers slightly, his hands clasped together. "I need you."
Tears start to stream down his face as he stands up and walks up next the the bed, grabbing onto his mothers hand. "Please don't leave me." He grips her hand tighter and her eyes flutter open for a second, then close. As he stared at his mother, he can feel a hand on his shoulder. "I think I can help you." Adrian spins around to see a tall man in a scarlet suit with black accents. He is holding a cane with the emblem of snakes twirling down it. "Come with me." The stranger said, taking Adrian's hand.
The sound of people walking snapped Adrian out of his thoughts and he looked at Evelyn. "Did you hear that?" He whispered, placing a finger over his lips.
