"You and I are equal. Therefore you can address me as Kate, or Partner, or something like that," Kate said, lifting up a picture to the light.

Myriad continued frowning "i dont understand .

"We both have equal abilities, talents, and other things," Kate said. "I see you as my equal, therefore you are."

Myriad frowned more, looking away in thought

"Do you not want to be my equal?" Kate said, confused. Kiri silently tried to reach for his bag.

"Im not ment to be. Im only a tool, a weapon if the need comes" he said as he looked back at her, clearly believing his own words

"No, you're not," Kate said, concerned. "Who told you that?"

"Everyone?" He said in confusion before pausing "well, exept my mother. But i killed her so i guess she was wrong"

"You...killed your mom?" Kate said. "Why?"

Myriad shrugged, sadness flickering over his face before he shoved it away "she wouldnt stop crying. Father told me to make her stop."

"You don't have to listen to orders," Kate said. "That's the nice thing about being human."

"Im not human" he said simply

"You must be," Kate said. "You look human. You sound human. You feel human."

Myriad hesitated before he sighed and formed his wings and tail with a burst of flame, his wings currently in tatteres from a recent punishment

"What-" Kate began, not sure what to say. She touched his wing, her heart hurting to see it broken. "I don't understand."
