Soon it was lunch and James and Curtis were back to stalking their friend. You guys do realise this is starting to get weird. Carson pointed out as he used the washroom, James and Curtis standing outside his stall. Pfftt. When did we care what was weird? James asked, rolling his eyes. Well I care. And its weird. Carson told them. Weird is fun! Right Curtis? James asked. Youre Gay. Im just waiting for when Carson breaks. Curtis replied. James rolled his eyes, pushing his friend slightly.
-
Ashley had sat their usual table, waiting for the boys to come. She drummed her fingers on the tabe, lost in her own mind. Carson seriously hasn't flirted with any girl and it's not that I don't like him Ashley thought, giving the bet more thought as well as thinking about the flirtatious boy. Carson is a great guy, I'm just not sure if he's even loyal At the thought of loyalty, Ashley gripped the wire of her headphones with her fingers, pinching her fingertips against it.
-
Carson entered the cafe, Curtis and James arguing behind him. He smiled when he saw Ashley and walked on the way to the table, but froze when he saw Jake approach the table.
Is this seat free? Jake asked Ashley, gesturing to the seat across the table from her with a charming grin. -
Ashley turned her attention to Jake, his words bringing her back to life. ''Yeah,'' Ashley said, smiling as she rested her hands on her lap. ''What brings you over here?'' She questioned, not wanting to sound rude but, she was indeed curious.
-
Im wondering what a pretty girl like you is doing sitting alone. Jake replied, sitting in the chair. Carson sighed as he walked over. Hey Ashley. Sorry were late. Carson told Ashley, giving Jake a get lost look.
-
Ashley laughed, turning her attention to Jake, almost ignoring Carson completely. ''It's whatever, Carson,'' Ashley said, shrugging him off as she turned her attention to Jake. ''But, thank you, Jake, for the compliment,'' Ashley said, fumbling with the sleeve of her cardigan. She rested her arms on the table, her eyes gazing into Jake's. ''So, Jake, do you think you'll be going to the indoor pool party, Jessie?'' Ashley questioned, now knowing well how rich Jessie actually was, for once she mentioned pool party it came to her without much thought until she realized the cold temperature.
-
Carson felt a pain in his chest he wasnt used to feeling. As if, somehow, his chest was completely empty. He had trouble breathing and his heart beat went heavy and slow. He huffed and stormed out of the cafe. James ran after his friend. Curtis stayed to watch Ashley in confusion. I think I will. If youll be my date. Jake told Ashley.
-
''I, um,'' Ashley said, not liking the idea of dates, especially if she had plans on going with the guys. ''I-I'll have to think about it,'' She said, a nervous laugh escaping her lips. ''I'm going to go see what happened to Carson,'' Ashley gathered her things and quickly chased after in the direction he had gone. Out in the hallway, Ashley felt frustration and guilt bubble inside her. ''Carson!'' She yelled, her voice strained with frustration. What sports does he do? The damn track team? Ashley thought, soon groaning after. She took a look down the long hallway and stopped for a moment. Walking mindlessly looking for a rather anger or upset teenage boy would mean she could get lost as she still wasn't used to the school. ''Dammit Carson,'' She grumbled, arms crossed as she glanced down the intersecting hallways.
-
Jake frowned as Curtis laughed. Sorry man. Youre too slow. Curtis laughed. Then he left to go help Ashley leaving Jake to sit there, puzzled and frustrated.
Hey Carson, Wait up. James sighed as he followed Carson out the front door of the school. Carson picked up a baseball bat from the lost and found and took it outside. He began hitting the wall of the school with it to vent his emotions. James watched Carson, wondering how he could possibly help. -
Ashley opened the double doors that lead to the side of the school building, concrete on the side to avoid from dirting the teenagers' shoes. The doors opened with a bang, as she glared down the sides of the building hoping to see him. ''I swear to God, Carson!'' She yelled, taking out her phone. Where in the hell are you? Why did you storm off like that? Ashley typed, sending him the text soon after. What the hell has gotten into you?! She added, sending another message. ''Carson!'' Ashley yelled, calling Carson on her phone. ''Curtis, you got any idea where the hell Carson is?'' She questioned, looking over her shoulder at the boy.
-
(Sorry. I was in the shower.)
James answered Carsons phone for him. Hey Ash. Sorry about that. Carson got a text from his mom that really upset him. Hes out front, blowing off steam. James lied.
Calm down. Carsons a strong guy. Hes fine, Im sure. Curtis replied. -
Its okay. ^^)
''He didn't even look at his phone,'' Ashley said, turning her attention to Curtis. ''Fine? No one gets angry for no reason,'' Ashley huffed. ''Even without James around you tend to be perfectly fine with lying and the story adds up'' Ashley said, with a bit of sarcasm. ''Was it seriously about Jake?'' She mumbled to herself. No way, Carson does not like me. No way, I can't believe that! He's the type of guy to play with a girl's heart, get a date with a cute girl and mess around Ashley thought, trying to convince herself it wasn't true. Once turning the corner, towards the front of the school her thoughts were paused and anger ceased. ''Carson,'' She whispered, never seeing the guy so angry at the very least he's been annoyed but, never to this point. Ashley watched silently, phone clenched in her hand as she watched him take swings at the wall with the baseball bat. -
Carson sighed when his arm grew tired. He turned, running a hand through his hair, and felt worried when he saw Ashley. How long was she standing there? Carson asked James. I aint part of this. Sorry. James sighed, not wanting to deal with the drama. He and Curtis went inside to wait. Jerks. Carson muttered. Uh... How long were you standing there? Carson asked, his face tinting red in embarrassment, sweaty from exhaustion, and pale from worry.
-
''I-I just here for a few minutes,'' Ashley said, her eyes drifting to the bat. With the moment of silence, Ashley recollected her thoughts and remembered her anger. Brows creased in anger and frustration, Ashley grabbed the baseball bat out from his hands and held a tight grip on it. ''What had gotten into you!?'' She yelled, glaring up at him. ''If you didn't like Jake that much I would've just told him to go sit somewhere and talk to him later,'' Ashley hissed, arms crossed over her chest. ''Or was it about the party, do you seriously not want to go?'' She questioned, oblivious to the true meaning behind Carson's actions.

Carson sighed. Dont worry about me. Im just... Im sorry. Im over reacting. Yeah. I forgot. I dont have feelings because Im a play boy. He laughed, forcing a smile to make her think he was being unreasonable on purpose. But I guess youre just too smart to fall for my tricks! He laughed, pretending to be a careless play boy. He didnt want to handle this kind of emotion. He didnt want to feel this anger. Or this jealousy. He wasnt used to it and he had no idea how to handle it. So he decided to give up. See you at the party. And dont worry. The bets off. Carson told her, Walking away. Each step felt like needles were in his shoes. He knew he was being a coward. But he didnt care. Thats what he was used to. Not caring. Why the heck did he care now?
