''I don't know,'' Noelle stood, placing her cigarette on the curve to finish it. She approached Chelsy, her brows furrowed. ''Hey, sweetheart,'' Noelle said, looking past her. ''What are you doing? And with a lighter?'' Noelle questioned, her eyes gazing at the lighter.
-
"Nothing." Chelsy lied, placing dry, dead leaves on the credit card and lighting them. A small flame started feeding on the leaves and the credit card held the flame. Chelsy closed the lighter and watched the flames lick the card, damaging its coding.
-
''You shouldn't be playing with fire,'' Noelle whispered, looking at the small flames. ''What are you burning?'' She questioned, her eyes on the fire. The flames were mesmerizing to her, much like her cigarettes in which she felt calm and relaxed.
-
Chelsey had the same feeling. It helped her calm down. "Nothing of importance." She lied, covering the fire with snow to put it out. She waited for a few minutes before digging the card out of the snow. She took the card and lighter and walked back inside to put them back where she found them.
-
Noelle cleared hee throat as she thought of an excuse to tell Andy. Approaching Andy, she sat beside him wrapping her hand around his. ''Chelsy wasn't doing anything really, just trying to relax her anger. I think it's best for you to let her cool off. Trying to calm down a young girl is like trying to calm down a mama bear,'' Noelle said, a nervous chuckle escaping her lips.
-
"Why is she angry?" Andy asked. It wasn't in Chelsy's nature to behave in anger. In fact she rarely got angry. Even though she normally has every right to feel angry.
-
''I don't know,'' Noelle said, brows furrowed. ''I'm sure she'll tell you soon,'' She hummed, rubbing her thumb against the back of his palm. ''It'll be fine, we just have to be patient,'' Noelle whispered, picking up her cigarette, placing it between her lips as she took a drag. Closing her eyelids as she thought of her own children, how mad and disappointed Shawn is, as well as how upset Alianna is.
-
(Should we eye the kids? I control Shawn and you control Alianna? We should add some character to them.)
-
(Okay, sure.)
-
Shawn couldn't believe what he heard his father say as he entered the living room. His sister was on the couch. She had no idea what he heard. She was still waiting for their mother. "Hey Ally." Shawn greeted, sitting on the couch as he watched his sister.
-
Having been seated on the couch, watching cartoons, Alianna could do nothing but think of her mother and how much she missed her. Her brows furrowed as she could hear her father soft cries for Noelle, for her mother to return with a smile on her face and an apology escaping her lips. Alianna's features were tired, distressed, eyes red with tears once she figured her mother wasn't home and not welcoming her with opened arms as she normally did when they returned from a trip. Taken away from her thoughts, the young child sniffed and looked at her brother. ''Hi,'' Her voice croaked, strained from crying earlier.
-
Shawn sighed and sat beside his sister, wrapping an a4m around her to comfort her. "It's Okay. Mom was just held up." Shawn assured his sister. "She'll be home soon. And she still loves us both." He promised her. He was unsure of this, but he wanted to comfort his sister.
-
Tears slipped from Alianna's hazel eyes, as she combed her fingers through her ginger hair. ''I miss mommy,'' The young girl sobbed, her eyes shut as she faced her lap. ''W-When will mommy c-come home? S-She always welcomes us home with a hug and kisses, and helps me read,'' Alianna sobbed, opening her eyes. She turned to look at Shawn, her brows furrowed and eyes full of hope. ''Will mommy come back? Will she come faster if,'' Alianna paused, a sob escaping her lips. ''I-If we act like we did before the trip?'' Alianna questioned, her face turning red from her crying.
-
"Maybe. Hey, I'll tell you what. How about when Dad goes to his office to work, I sneak us some Ice cream?" Shawn asked. "Maybe I'll even read with you." He added with a smile.
-
''What kind of ice cream?'' Alianna questioned not completely sold on the deal. She sat up straight, wiped her tears and crossed her arms. ''Will it be Where the Wild Things Are? Mommy said it was a book grandma read to her,'' She stated, her eyes flashing with life and hope but, she hadn't seen the book since about a month ago. The strange book was lost in the attic, as so her mother claims.
