A conversation began between the family. Chelsy was surprised to see Noelle getting messages. She thought she canceled the signal.
Olivia smiled, noticing the connection was back up. She got back to work sending the screen shots to Braden. -
Braden's phone rang, one text after another. Hoping to see if it was Noelle, it turned out to be an unknown number. He saw the attached pictures to each message, his jaw dropping in disbelief. It was no doubt Noelle's phone since he's seen the contacts after looking over her shoulder but, the worst feeling hit him when he saw the most recent messages.
A ring blared over the chattering, and Noelle jumped in surprise. Answering the phone, Noelle stood and began walking outside. ''Hel-'' Noelle began, only to be cut off with her husband's yelling. ''How could you, you whore?! I loved you! I loved you and our children! Th-This number sent everything to me! You've been doing me wrong since Alianna was born?! Was I not good enough and Andy o-or Wendy are?! Who is it?! Why, Noelle, why?'' Braden questioned, his yelling soon decreasing as she heard his gentle sobs. ''Braden, I'm so, so sorry,'' Noelle whispered as Braden refused to listen. ''No! I want a divorce! I don't want to be with you anymore, my parents told me to never marry you but, I loved you. You're pathetic. Was our love just a setup for what your fame, for your novel ideas? I don't want you anymore,'' With that the call ended.
Noelle sighed, taking out a cigarette from her fur coat and lighting it. Her eyelashes fluttered as she felt tears pricking her eyes. Her gaze flickered to Olivia, as she knew well, she did this. Noelle sat down on the concrete, tears streaming down her cheeks. She didn't miss him, she didn't love him. It was the fear, anger, and his words that caused her to be upset. ''Am I really a bad person?'' Noelle whispered, her voice coming out hoarse from holding back sobs. -
Olivia smirked at Noelle. "Why is Noelle crying?" Valery asked her mother. "She probably got what she deserved." Olivia whispered to her child. Valery frowned. "She deserves to be happy." The child replied, walking to Noelle. She poured her veggies into the garbage on the way. Chelsy glared at her mother and got up to go with Valery.
-
Noelle used her fingers to dry her tears. She took off her phone case and took out the ring. It was the symbol of her love and loyalty to Braden. I already hate myself Noelle thought, tossing the ring, allowing it roll down the concrete.
-
"Noelle? Are you okay?" Valery asked, running up to the distressed woman. "I'm sorry. I thought cutting the wifi would stop her. I guess the restaurant had a back up rouder or something." Chelsy apologized, sitting on a bench near them.
-
''I'm alright,'' Noelle whispered, wiping her eyes clear from tears. ''I, um,'' She mumbled, biting her bottom lip. ''Do you girls think I'm a bad person?'' Noelle questioned, her head low in shame for asking such a question to children.
-
"No. Why would you be a bad person?" Valery asked. "You aren't a bad person Noelle. Even if your were, at least you're reflecting on that. You're acknowledging mistakes and your trying to make up for them." Chelsy told Noelle, picking up a stone. "Which is far better than some people... Who think they are perfect and only care about their opinions and their values. Who have a plain for their perfect lives, and if the people they think are not perfect don't follow that plain, they just screw them over." Chelsy muttered, talking about her mother as she threw the stone across the street.
-
''You two are too kind,'' Noelle said, laughter escaping her lips. ''I can't believe your Olivia's kid,'' She said, wiping her eyes, making sure she's free from any tears. ''You girls should run along inside, don't want you to be around me while I smoke,'' Noelle began, clearing her throat. ''Can you tell your father to come out here, so, we can..um,'' Noelle hesitated, her eyes gazing across the parking lot, as she seemed lost in her own mind. ''So we can talk,'' She said after a moment of silence.
-
"Okay." Valery replied, running outside. Chelsy, Who was clear of the smoke, stayed on the bench, staring into space. She was thinking about what she just said. And how her mother just tossed her father aside when it most suited her, and wanted him back. Chelsy was the only one who knew why her mother wanted her father back. That reason was in her Grandmothers will.
-
Sitting in silence, Noelle took a drag of her cigarette, her eyes burning from her crying. She sighed, closing her eyelids as she licked her lips. Noelle crossed her legs, thinking about her children, Braden, the divorce but, most importantly thinking about Andy.
-
Andy came out and walked over to Noelle. "What happened?" Andy asked, seeing his daughter staring angrily into space and Noelle appear distressed.
-
''Braden called again,'' Noelle said, smoking her cigarette. ''He called about wanting a divorce, Olivia went through my phone, took screenshots and sent it to Braden,'' Noelle said, running her fingers through her hair. ''He hates me so much that he canceled everything, my stay at the hotel and even canceled our joint credit cards,'' Noelle added. ''I'm assuming he wants the divorce as soon as possible,'' She said, licking her lips.
-
"Should we call my lawer and get started to arrange the custody rules with him?" Andy asked, holding Noelle's hand.
Chelsy went inside, kicking rocks and puddles as she walked to the restaurant. She was pretty mad at her mother right now. All of the anger she kept from herself for years was bubbling inside her. She found a credit card and a lighter inside her mother's coat pocket and took them outside. -
Noelle squeezed Andy's hand, as support and guidance through this hardship. Her eyes narrowed as she gazed at the other side of the parking lot, taking a drag from her cigarette. ''I-I guess, I'm just not ready for any of this,'' She admitted, her gaze shifting to her lap. ''It was so much easier cheating on him, where we both were happy, at the very least it's what I wanted to believe,'' Noelle whispered, her gaze shifting to Andy.
-
Meanwhile, Chelsy was packing a tight hole in the snow. She put her moms credit card in the hole she dug, then lit the lighter.
Andy saw Chelsy's shadow holding a small light. "What is she doing?" Andy wondered.
