Gerald sat in his abandoned barn, which was surprisingly still standing. His dog, Ella, lay down by his side while he ate some more food he stole. -
"Attention! All villagers are to come to the castle! The capital kingdom is here!" Knights ran around, telling everyone.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth was brushing her hair in the mirror. "Hey sis! You know this town better than any of us! Are there any cute boys here?" Mary asked, getting an eye roll from Isabella. "Well, a few." Elizabeth replied, laughing. -
Gerald heard the announcement and with his dog, rushed to the castle. Luckily, it wasn't far away.

"Attention everyone!" The Queen announced. "My sister and her kingdom will be staying here!" She announced. "So, please welcome the capital and its royal family!" The king concluded as Queen Violet, King Waldo, Princess Isabella, Marilyn, and Elizabeth came onto the stage. They bowed before sitting down.

Gerald heard Elizabeth's name and quietly said "Ella?" but he too bow, because he didn't want to be rude.

Elizabeth looked over the crowd. She saw Gerald as the Queen asked the kingdoms royal guards to get in line. "Each Princess should choose a royal gaurd to be their protector while they're here." Queen Violet explained.

Gerald stood there in line, not knowing if Elizabeth even recognized him. He still stood attentively to see who would be picked.

Isabella was first to pick. There was luckily one girl gaurd in the entire royal gaurd. So that was who she chose.
Marilyn chose the cutest boy she could find, getting an eye roll from her sisters.
And Elizabeth recognized Gerald. So she chose him. "Are you sure? He's a thief in his spare time." The head of the royal gaurd told her. Elizabeth nodded. "Okay. I will take you all to the castle and show you your rooms!" King Samuel cheered. -
Gerald gave a sour look at the head after that remark, but followed Elizabeth to her room.

"This is my son, Prince Eric." Queen Lila told them. The two sisters had met him, but they bowed with Ella anyways. Ella entered her bedroom as the servants brought her luggage. "So, how have you been Gerald?" She asked as she sat on her bed. The Queen found a spare mattress for Gerald and the servants placed it on the floor before leaving.

Gerald said "I'm fine I guess. I just wish I still didn't have to steal for me and Ella to eat. And I wouldn't have to if they hired me full time."

Elizabeth blinked, confused about what he meant by Ella.

Gerald could tell Elizabeth was confused and said "Ella's my dog."

"Oh! The one at the barn?" Elizabeth asked as she put her dresses in her closet. She wondered whether to be flattered or confused to the fact he named his dog after her.

Gerald said "Yeah that same one. She helps me out on guard duty."
